For real...whilst at Brands Hatch I was timing Jenny in the BSB race and she was lapping at a pace where I doubt 95% of fast group riders wouldn't even be able to pace her let alone be faster..
On the same bike with the same time available for practice and setting up the bike?trickywoo said:

On the same bike with the same time available for practice and setting up the bike?To give trickywoo an idea of how fast she is, she was messing about in Inters with a reporter from The Sun last year. She was on a full spec road Blade, with mirrors amd all road stuff, no suspension tweaks or anything, just her and him on identical Blades straight out of the showroom. She spent 2/3rds of the sessions riding shotgun with him at 2:10 laps, then she decided to clear off, first lap was around 1:55, then she'd do consistent 1:42s.
Those times would win her club races there up against some quality riders all of whom, would be on seriously tricked up bikes. She was a on a showroom standard bike.
To follow your logic further, if I got as much time as Rossi on his M1 would I be as good? The simple answer is never in a million years. There are some in here who are very, very fast riders and they would struggle to match Jenny's times using her bike.

Fast group at Oulton is anything sub 2mins laps. A good fast group rider will run sub 1:50, a fast club racer 1:42, BSB is 1:33. He was struggling to break 2mins from what I saw. He would be lapped inside 4 laps and 4 - 5 times in BSB races
My not so little matey (anymore) Joe Francis was doing 1:40's on his super stock R6 last year... And at a track day back in Nov on his R6 track day bike he was about 1:45... Steve Brogan was doing similar times on an aprillia V4....Fast group at Oulton is anything sub 2mins laps. A good fast group rider will run sub 1:50, a fast club racer 1:42, BSB is 1:33. I spoke to a load of regulars on a variety of machines, that said they'd love to get into the sub 1:50's

Certainly......I was just emphasising your point....
Watch out for Joe this year....he's just turned 18 and is in for his first full year on a full on supersport bike.....
There's some real young talent coming through now. I'd like to see the old guard at the top teams in BSB being moved aside in the next few years. Watch out for Joe this year....he's just turned 18 and is in for his first full year on a full on supersport bike.....

So we're pretty well in agreement then. I did mean "good" to get sub 1'50. I've never managed it.
Even with all the money/ time to do trackdays and training to your hearts content, you'll always plateua at your natural limit? How far do we reckon a middle aged amateur could get themselves with a healthy budget and plenty of time? Club racing at best?LoonR1 said:

Double eh? How does it matter who you work with? I've got a few mates who run in SuperStock1000 and good mates with a team owner in BSB. Does that make me MotoGP material?
For info I was on track last year with BVG and he was a liability in the Fast group, he was low to mid Inters pace at best.
Troy corser is my next door neighbour and so now I compete in WSBK and he's my pit monkey.
