the bb trackday thread.
Discussion
I know that MTB loves a good picture thread on BB so I tried not to disappoint.
I left nice and early this morning. Stopped at the garage to fill both bikes with fuel and a 20L Jerry can, so I had 56L at my disposal. Also bought some redbull
I then drank the redbull
The weather was pretty gloomy when I arrived, low cloud, couldn't even see the hill. Forecast was for dry and to brighten up which it did.
The day started slowly with lots of red flags. Don't know if it was the cold track temps or people were just getting overly excited. Unfortunately, I was to cause a red flag too. Thankfully it was only because of an errant but of bodywork that flew off at high speed. No damage done. Result
After lunch, I eat some Jaffa cakes with MTB. He was adamant that no one could tell the difference between real jaffas and Asda value. Except for me. And it turns out him too. Haha.
I realised at this point that I hadn't taken a photo for a little while so thought I better remedy it. MTB wasn't happy about that though
Decided I was much more photogenic
That's the last of my photos. As for the trackday, I won't be doo g another open pitlane Trackday again. The difference in laptimes was just too great and not only was it frustrating for me trying to get into a rhythm, the closing speeds were frankly dangerous at times.
During the day I managed to lap 56/55/54's with lots of traffic. Last session, traffic thinned out and I got a few 52's with a PB of 52.7
despite the traffic, it was a good day on track. Bloody hard work, partly because Knockhill is such a physical track, and partly because I did so many laps on both bikes. Burned the vast majority of my 56L of fuel, and now have blisters and sore muscles to boot.

50. At most 35 on track.
As mckeann says the difference was too much. I thought that and I'm not quick. I can't begin to think how it felt for guys going 55 second Laps.
Thing is when your in your group there is slow and fast but there's not much in it. We had mckeann Overtaking everyone and even me at minute lap getting held up a lot. I nearly rear ended a few.
It was never the bib wearers. They were fine you knew to air on the side of caution. It was the others who should have worn them but pride got in the way.
It was a good day but I never managed much track time. I was in and out loads due to red flags. It was ridiculous.
3 in 40 minutes in the morning. I used to love Knockhill but when you do real tracks it's not a patch on any.
Still I managed knee down everywhere which was cracking Knockhill was a place I struggled doing so before I set my suspension up. I wore half my slider away. (apparently they are super soft so not something to shout about) but I just like the giggle of getting it down for aslong as I can even if I'm going slower. I know it's retarded and all that but I'm just there to have a laugh. Mckeann kept lecturing me about sorting my stupidly long gearing and getting track tyres and I'm like yeah but, no Alex just do it. I'm gonna sort my bike out soon. It's a shEd. It's a road bike with track fairings. It's probably holding me back. Or Not making life easy for me.
I just thought I'd do half a dozen like last year. It's may and come Monday ilk have done 9 in 3 months.
