That R in those colours with the half fairing is beautiful.

I love the R but instead of the spoked wheels I would prefer the black cast items on the lower spec model. On my own bonnie (SE model) I had thoes and prefered them to the spoked items. One thing it always wanted was more power and better stoppers.

Would 100 bhp be out of the question?

Might need to get my 675R priced up for a trade-in against that Thruxton R cloud9

I've wanted a Thruxton for a while but always felt I'd be missing the performance of the Daytona - this new bike seems to address some of that concern biggrin

FAIK, the Scrambler has always had a 270 crank.
Correct as far as I know. I seem to recall that the uneven power stops it overcoming grip as quickly on loose surfaces.

These new bikes look like st jap wannbe Triumphs, that radiator ruins them.

Nice try Triumph but really the Norton although not in the same price bracket is a much nicer looking bike.

Also the Ducati Sport 1000 Cafe racer from 04-07 still looks so much better then any Thruxton here... 92bhp and much lighter.

Still nice try from Triumph. They dont look as cool as the Norton or the old Ducati

How do you know?
Triumph haven't quoted any weights yet.

I imagine that they have no option but to turn out stuff like this now that they appear to be so comprehensively in bed with the BSMC.

The R is quoted at 82 lbft. Using this website: http://www.metaris.com/hp-relations.php and assuming the maximum torque is at 7,000 rpm gives a power output of 109 hp. It will be in the range of 100hp.

I think the Thruxton R is a lovely looking thing, I would have one before a Norton.

And I'm not sure a 1200 air cooled engine would ever pass emission testing.
XJR1300 does.

sure?

Cant seem to find anything to say whether the xjr1300 meets Euro4 emmisions regs due to come in in January or not. Anything released after 01/01/2016 needs to meet the new standards and existing designs have a years grace before they will be unsaleable.

Probably going a bit too far, but yes, I agree the radiator definitely spoils the clean lines of the bike.

(imo) No matter how hard Triumph try, they are nowhere near matching the sheer beauty of the late 60's models.....

I will always be grateful to John Bloor for saving the Marque though, otherwise it would have gone the same way as BSA, Dot, Cotton, Greeves etc.....

Dunno about that, I'm just pretty sure they still sell them

For the first time I would not mind having one of those. The clever design of the radiator for the liquid coll engines almost looks like it is not there, take note Harley.

The black one with the red tank is really nice though I will have to grow a beard and pull me jeans up.

Well done Triumph, great job.

As it's liquid cooled why are there cooling fins on the engine?
Same reason there's paint on the tank wink

looks...and by leaving them there they can run a smaller radiator. Without them it would probably end up with a huge great radiator like the water cooled Harleys.

Quite clever really, not sure quite how effective they will be but a HD tuner I know has already said he may get one to try a cool running map to reduce further or delete the rad.

They do still sell them, but unless Yamaha can somehow pull off a miracle and get it past Euro4 it will finish production end of 2016.

I like the Street Twin the best, and the retro half fairing on the Thruxton, but why water cooled and fake carbs?
