Is anyone on here an average (or worse) rider?
Discussion
As has been said, it all depends on how you judge good/bad/average.
On the track I’m faster than some but slower than others but I don’t really like riding on the track.
I can’t do wheelies or stoppies and have never got my knee down. However, I don’t want to do wheelies, stoppies or get me knee down (And never have!)
Likewise, on the road, again I’m faster than some but slower than others. I know riders who take less risks than me and I know riders who take more risks than me. My roadcraft skills are better than some, but not as good as others.
I suppose that makes me average.

I like to think I am good at the at speed stuff, like road positioning, cornering, awareness etc, but not so good at the low speed manoeuvring, for instance I hate U-turns. My short legs don't help, and I sometimes think when I come to a stop in the road I must look quite uncomfortable.
I imagine I'm pretty average. I ride for my own enjoyment and rarely ride with others, so I avoid that quasi-competitive chase instinct. I can get my knee down but it's a very rare occurence because on the road there appears to be very little need for it, if ever.
I constantly find myself in awe of some of the videos posted by the fast guys on here and I know I could never dream of being as quick or as smooth as them on track; McApe, Fleegle, BikersNemesis and that lot are most definitely at a level I'll never achieve but I'm not sure I have the desire to either.
Riding for your own enjoyment is the key to happiness on two wheels

I'm pretty crap I guess.
However I don't consciously counter steer so I reckon that's why I don't crash cos I keep the wheel pointed in the direction I want to go rather than yanking it the wrong way.
People go either side of me when on track but I have more to live for than them.
Depends how you measure success on a bike?

I'm competent....if I've had At least 8 hours kip, my suspension is set up, my front has exactly 33.3 psi in it, I've had my wheatabix, its sunny 18 degrees with a track temp into the late 20's and a slight north easterly wind coming in.
I'm good for about 2 mundane laps in this case. If not I'm like the Princess and the pea if any one of the above conditions are not 100% and I mumble and moan making excuses to hide my utter stness.
