Interesting technology, can't imagine they would be too much of a spectacle going past.

I'll take guesses on the year an electric bike wins the Senior TT.

I'll go 2050.
2067. Energy density is improving with batteries but it's a long way off.

The only way I will ever take the electric TT seriously is if they have to generate their own power on the way round.
I can't wait to see a solar bike racing against a nuclear bike racing against a coal-powered bike (I don't think the wind and water options will work

My money is on coal to do it first.

It's going to make the traditional TT rather interesting. Sat at the start line with a dinosaur on your pillion seat, waiting for it to decompose to oil.

I think you'll find that oil came from bacteria, not dinosaurs, and it was pressure and temperature, not decomposition, that made it what it is today...

No they should only go down as a TT win when they're doing more than one lap.

If you beat John McGuiness round the TT course on matching machinery - frankly you deserve the TT victory.

I like TT zero and have watched every year since it started. It was a joke where it was a win if you managed to complete a single lap. The machinery was unreliable, heavy and slow. Now they look the business and look seriously fast, not superbike fast but not to be laughed at.

Guy Martin has raced them before and did quite well if I remember correctly so I don't see why it's such a massive surprise that he's on one again. My money is on Mc Guinness or Rutter though as they always win.

As for the big bikes, it will be Hutchinson, Dunlop or maybe Mc Guinness if the Fireblade turns out to be any good. My money is on Hutchy though.

That'll be a long way off they can't even manage a full powered lap yet let alone the two they'd need to do before a battery pack change.

2070

2017 predictions:

Superbike: Dunlop
Superstock: Dunlop
Supersport: I can't call it
Senior: IH/Mcpint
Sidecar: DM BB with a race each

Does it count? ...If the winner gets to stand on the top step at the IoM TT, then YES!

That may well be true, but I like the idea of a T-rex/Velociraptor perched on the back of a fireblade.

Guy Martin. He's pretty successful roads racer, won a lot of the big events and has a few TT podiums under his belt. He's done a lot of TV work too.
