Do people think a lot of MD moving around is because he is hard to work with, demanding? Or is it money related? Or something else? he never seems to stay in teams for very long. Is the old Dunlop thing of doing his own work on the bike that annoyed Honda for years with Joey before they basically just left him to it!!

The comparison is simple.

If you look at Cookstown, Tandragee, Billown, IOM they are bumpy, tight roads in places and open in others.

NW is fairly flat, not especially bumpy in comparison to the real road tracks and more like a real short track in many places than the TT course for example, OM is a proper track, but very very narrow.

For me there are three types of road course, the true stuff like the Irish stuff and green lanes of old, the TT, and then the more short circuit style road tracks like NW, Oliver's, Bathurst, even perhaps Macau or Aberdare, there is something that separates these tracks from full on short circuits, that's all.
I've never, ever heard anyone talk about the NW200 being a 'short circuit' style course.

Read what he said; it's mainly flat, with good sight lines, as you would find on a short circuit. And it's relatively easy to learn; That's why some racers will do the NW200, but not other road races, like the TT. I don't think he means it's a short circuit, but it produces 'short circuit racing'.

Not sure, but several of the 'top' riders seem to change bikes from arriving to the actual race.

Don't know the bald fellas name (BBC NI presenter) but you'd think after all these years he would have figured out a way of getting Phil McCallen to shut his trap rofl

Just watching the live stream. Typical Irish weather I'm looking out of my window in Sussex at bright sunshine and blue skies but the roads on the screen in Ireland are soaking wet pouring rain with umbrellas everywhere.

It still looks like they are going to race but I bet it doesn't last long

Impressive racing in those conditions. Especially Mcwilliams. I think he's older than me.

Looks like the superstocks about to launch.

Unbelievably ballsy. It looks wet AND DARK now!

Some of these riders must be questioning why they are out there and taking this risk with the TT on the horizon

Quite a few riders electing not to go out including Dunlop which is a bit of a surprise.

I remember in his younger days he used to argue that they should race whatever the weather because the conditions were the same for everyone

Hopefully it should be dry tomorrow, at least.

Maybe not warm and sunny, but if it's not cold and rainy it will be an improvement...

The coverage has been excellent. I personally really like Philip McCallen, his commentary and expert opinion. I’m really pleased to see that Keith Huewen and Steve Parrish and from what I saw of their commentary (outside of work) it was top notch.
