In all honesty the fact that it's small enough for the bike, waterproof and transferable to the car is more important to me than POI or being able to have all of europe on it at once. Can't stand getting lost and when on the bike I like to wander and if I can do that and still be able to find my way home then I'm happy.
They're the exact same reasons I got mine. Waterproof and usable in the bike and the car. Ram mount is mega sucure and I've never had to tighten it once and it's been on the bike nearly three years. You can set it up so that it knows where 'home' is and a long press of one button it will automatically route you home after a long ride.
Battery lasts for about 6-8 hours too (depending on how high you have the backlight set, it's adjustable) which for a single days riding is ample, for me anyway.
Used to to go to France and back twice, including a trip back around the Paris ring road on a Monday morning rush hour, never missed a turn.
I've never used mine with a earphone though, always relied on the pictures on the screen instead.

I'd suggest you need to get down a gym then... It doesn't weigh the same as a brick and mine fits perfectly well in my jacket pocket when I get off the bike.
dont be hurt that I made a comment about a satnav , its just my opinion, and i thought the unit was clumsy and not particularly user friendly to a dinosaur like me .
The friend who bought it from me loves the unit,
and thanks for your concern , but i dont need to do any more than i do already at the gym .

It wasn't meant as hurt type comment, more to the fact that I don't find it unweildy, but I get your point about it compared to more modern units.
Saying that, I've seen some of the new TomTom units and they're massive! God knows I wouldn't want one in my car, let alone on a bike!
Right sorry to bring this back up. after using my Tom Tom 910 in the US in the last few weeks it worked a trea5t but I don't want to use it on my bike. So I was looking at a Garmin eTrex sort of thing in the US. I decided against it as I don't know much about them. I have read people saying about the Tom tom rider for £250 but have not seen it for that price. Links anyone and what other types of waterproof GPS do people recommened. links would help me get more info on what I would like.

Anyone got the Garmin Zumo 550. more than I want to spend but looks like a good bit of kit
I got a garmin zumo 550 a few months back, top top top piece of kit, both in the car and on the bike, both mounts (car and bike) are excellent software is superb, anti glare screen actually works, spend the dough and get one, you wont be disapointed, can also be used as comms centre for blue tooth radio, headset, pillion, phone etc. and works as hands free phone kit when in your car on the powered mount. i really cannot recommend this unit enough.

Yep, a mate has just bought his mrs one, a great piece of kit. This would be the one I'd get, cash permitting!!I think it's specifically made for bikes, ans looks very user friendly as well.
