Jonathon Palmer was quoted on local radio this morning saying that the cancellation had cost Brands Hatch directly in excess of £250K!

Re-scheduled at the cost of the Bemsee meeting that weekend.

Thanks Mr. Palmer

The version I got was that they were trying to "intigrate" it into the Bemsee meeting, and that some races would be cut, shortened, or rescheduled for the sturday. In real terms that may be a great thing, when else will a Rookie 400 rider on possibly only his 2nd or 3rd outing get to ride infront of tens of thousands of spectators? and lets be honest the Rookie carnage is always far more entertaining than the pro rider stuff anyway.

I agree it could be a good thing, but the club racers will have to play second fiddle to the BSB boys for the facilities. In real terms, Bemsee had arranged for the full use of the circuit and the facilities, the likelehood of the club racers getting the use of the garages and the paddock are zilch.

Garages I agree no chance (these were always at extra costs for Bemsee meetings anyway and not many people use one) but they'll still be room in the paddock.

And lets be honest any Bemsee club racer is used to venues like Lydden Hill anyway so even if they were in the field over the road at Brands it would be an improvement.

It's not that many years ago that Shayne Byrne was a Bemsee club racer! I can remember being in the Rookie 600's with him and Stuart Simmonds who now owns the KSS Discovery team.

Looks like I wasted £102 on tickets!
From Motorsport vision today:

Dear Customer

Thank you for contacting us regarding the Bennetts British Superbike event originally scheduled to take place last Sunday (6 April). As you are aware, regrettably the day's racing had to be cancelled due to heavy snowfall.

However, even though the factors leading to cancellation of the event were entirely beyond our control, we were able to immediately contact all the key members of the BSB community in order to re-arrange the event to take place on 11 May.

I am pleased to confirm that all customer weekend admission, raceday admission and grandstand tickets held for the 6 April BSB event will be valid for the new 11 May date at no extra charge. However, we will not be offering any refunds, in part or whole, nor offering tickets to alternate events other than the rescheduled 11 May event. If there is any possibility that you are able to attend the re-scheduled event, I would encourage you to do so. With the addition of several BMCRC classes into the event, there will be 10 races to enjoy on the Sunday.

I understand that some ticket holders may not be able to attend the rescheduled event. Accordingly, in a change to our usual ticket terms and conditions, ticket holders who are unable to attend this new date shall be permitted to transfer their ticket for use by a friend or family member who is able to attend.

I do hope you understand our position in these difficult circumstances, and that we will see you again at a MotorSport Vision circuit in the very near future.

Kind regards
