Really??!! Thank you, Aubrey That's a lovely offer.
I work in Shoreham and live in Brighton. Could do an evening after work if that suits you? I don't have a helmet or leathers or anything, so would need to borrow at least a lid and some gloves if that's possible.
Ohhhh, am very excited now!!!
Not a problem, I often go down to Madeira drive if it's nice and sunny. Hmm, I think I might have a spare helmet that would fit though, what size are you? Would prefer a dry day if that suits you, shame you are riding or I would buy you a drink to say thank you when we meet up!

I was all up for offering you a ride... (on the bike).
Until you put the bit about n sillettos not being included!
Are you close enough to come along when I go out with Aubrey? It could be a mini convoy. Errm, I guess I could tie the stilettos to the handlebars or something!Until you put the bit about n sillettos not being included!

Dry day is always better! I've got a spare lid, but it's a small I think, so may not fit. Have to be a shandy then
Aubrey, I will pm you my details and we can make arrangements. Thank you so much, I'm really looking forward to this.I may be a small. Always took small (horse) riding hats. We can try it and see, I'll ask my friends too, they should have spares.
Sunny evening, bike ride, shandy on the beach... perfect!

Just posted a nice little reply back to her..
Thanks for the post its always good to get involved in a lively debate. Sorry I was genuinely unaware of the 'biker banter' forum, however I still wouldnt have posted it here as you would only get the bikers point of view. That said I stand by my comments. If its an open road I will pull to one side to let a bike past and 9/10 time I will be thanked by the biker. Unfortunatley there are times when the traffic is too heavy for bikers to make good progress and a few, not all, resort to forcing their way through traffic. More often than not its students on mopeds or learners on low powered machines. Thanks for the reply though.Road2Ruin said:

Generally it's difficult for a biker to 'force' his or her way through, we all know which would come off better! When you ride a bike you learn very quickly to ride defensively. When I'm on my bike, I always ride with the attitude that everyone is out to kill me. Never assume I have been seen etc. However I do understand that there are some loonies out there Road2Ruin said:

I would agree with this, they often think they are invisible! Bigger bikes tend (not always) to be more responsible as they are usually ridden by slightly older people. It's not forcing their way through if they can get through!
It's called filtering.
Lets put it in Lehmans terms, if you were in heavy traffic & there was space for your car to get through so you could make better progress would you use it instead of being stuck in slow moving traffic?
If the gap physically isnt big enough a biker won't attempt it.
& in your original post it said about things you hate/dislike or something & you said motorcyclists, you didnt state that the majority were fine you used the term motorcyclists as a generalisation which is why you'll get a response!

In the term 'Motorcylists' I apologise. With regards to filtering again I dont see a problem as long as its safe. As a motorist in heavy tarffic you leave a gap from the car in front depending on the speed and road/weather conditions. Now a biker overtakes you and pulls into that gap, nothing illegal here, you then have to slow down to keep your distance from the bike in front. Again nothing illegal here. All too often though this happens when traffic is speeding up and slowing down in an erratic way this could lead to a bike sandwhich. I have also seen this happen on stretches of road with no overtaking lines and hatching where the bike has gone over them to overtake. Now imaginge if a car driver did this exact same manouevre (which I have witnessed) just because the gap was big enough to fit his car in. How many people would cuss him? A lot I suspect. It's called filtering.
