Upgrade? to an older version of the same bike? within ten minutes f passing mine I drove past the examiners office on ths
wish I still had it
While the CJ was newer, it had the same engine as the G5 but didn’t have the electric start and didn’t have a 6th gear. It also had much less ground clearance, particularly on right handers, due to the 2 into 1 exhaust collector box (which I wore through!!!!). As I was still at school and was running a bike from my Saturday job earnings (which were also paying for pretty much everything else other than board and lodgings) then my upgrade had to be financed from the sale of the CJwish I still had it
I passed on an XJ900 diversion- I kid you not.
Someone (ahem) lost the keys to the ER-5 which I was meant to use so I had to use the shops loan bike, which was a 900 divvy.
My instructor told the examiner the predicament, but just told him it was a Divvy- not what size it was, and the examiner noted it down as a 600.
Bloody thing had virtually no gearbox left in it which meant that getting it into neutral was a hit or miss affair so I got a mark against me for not selecting neutral, Fair enough I suppose.
A mark against me for not doing a left hand safety look as I turned left across a cycle lane (I'd just riden alongside the cycle lane up to the junction so I already knew that there was no cylcists on it!),
And a mark against me for not using my right hand indicator on a 5 way r/bout to go straight over (I thought it was a 4 way and argued with him until i was told to "shut up you've passed" by my instructor).
My mate managed to fail within 100 metres of the test station by squeezing through the gap between an on-coming car and the parked cars when the road was tight and had cars parked either side - DOOFUS!
