My sub 1000 quid sthorse for the commute. Affectionately called the pig. I've been enjoying riding it despite many of my biker and non biker mates ripping the piss. It's had loads of work done recently but keeps giving me niggles. This week it's needed a rear brake light switch. Meh suppose it's not bad for 15 years and 20k miles.
Have since put the wheel arches back on since this pic was taken.
Planning on riding 1000 miles between Lands End to John O’Groats in 24 hrs later this year for charity. It's a tourer but Super Adventure it is not. Not commuting on the KTM has made me realise how good it is.

My girl , where have the years gone , she sat on it & being the terrorist she was she was off , up the drive / culdesac, me & her mum were having kittens , but throttle wide open , up & down with that big smile at her her mum & dad
I’d be sat in living room & hear my 1,000 start up & it reving away , still loves bikes
Lovely memory now , but her mum to this day would disagree

Well here's mine. 2015 Peugeot Kisbee 50cc 4t. Bought for £50 from someone who knew nothing about bikes/engines thinking it was running ok. Turned out to have run out of oil (sump bolt was hanging out). Bought another complete engine from fleabay £125. Then a few bits needed to make it half presentable. Brake lever, battery, starter relay and a lot of very tacky stickers to cover scratches all over it.
Owes me about £350 and bottom two pics show with new tyres fitted. I've fitted a USB to it, quadlock and gerbing clothing cable. Changed the pathetic 35w bulb for an LED one which is better but still a candle at night and de-restricted the CDI & removed the washer
I'm a fairly athletic 14st build and it'll sit around 70ish kmh on a straight and its read off the clock over 80kmh on a slight down hill. Does something silly like 90-100+mpg
I've strangely grown fond of it but do ride like I'm on crack and need to remind myself I'm a grandad at times...

Quick overview is it’s bloody awesome. Certainly gets attention wherever it goes, and rides very nicely. Plenty of torque and lots of gadgets to play with.
It is obviously very niche and limited in its range (real world mixed riding with some dual carriageway gets about 60 miles), but you do it in near silence and a very smooth ride. I’ve been riding it a year and still get excited every time I go out on it.

I picked up this old shagger over the weekend.
I’m about to change jobs and will be going from a 0.5 mile each way commute to a 25 mile each way commute. I don’t fancy having to fill the car with the petrol every week so started looking for a cheap scooter to get me to work. This came up on Facebook marketplace for £350! The guy had owned it for about three years and used it for commuting. He serviced it last year and put the wrong grade of oil in which ended up bending the crank. So he bought a used engine and replaced it. Then about six months later he was parked on a building site and the scoot got knocked over, smashing all the plastic trims off one side. So he parked it in the garage and started to strip it to sell the parts rather than fix it back up. He just ran out of time to do this so advertised it.
I went and had a look, offered him £200 and it was mine
Anyway, it’s a 2013 Piaggio X10 350cc. The bike has done around 30,000 miles but the replacement engine has only done around 15,000. He gave me the old engine as well which I intend on stripping and selling the crank case etc to claw a little money back. The front mudguard is cracked but he’s given me a spare which I’ll eventually fit.
It starts on the button and rides perfectly. He gave me all the bits he’d removed which I spent an hour putting back on at the weekend. It still missing the plastic chrome trims from the front but they’re around £200 each to buy new and generally don’t come up second hand so I won’t bother getting them. Still has six months MOT as well!

Going to use it for going back and to work on, which is only 12 miles each way. Does anyone know how this is likely to be restricted, as I'd like to remove the restriction to make the journey a little easier?

Possibly by a spacer in the variator which restricts its travel and a restriction in the exhaust header. If remove the cover of the transmission and see that the belt is travelling all the way "up" the primary sheave then it's not restricted. towser44 said:

I’d imagine for something like that there will be loads of guides online (YouTube etc) on how to derestrict them. I know when I was 16 some guys from school had them and were shooting about at 50mph on them with some simple changes. towser44 said:

It's a 24 year old Italian scooter so expect it to have issues. Electrical issues! I just got rid of my mp3 because cheap and reliable it was not!
Every week something decided to let go or needed attention and I was only using it twice a week. I expected to have to do some work on a 15 year old bike but after 3 breakdowns and all the faff of getting in late, recovering it and train home I decided it wasn't worth it. Last straw was it frying its starter relay without obvious cause which worried me the stator was on its way out. Engine out job! That plus worrying about the tilt lock or 3 sets of head bearings going etc. Fortunately I found some one braver than me to take it off my hands for not much of a loss.
I love the idea of scooting to work but they are so bloody annoying to work on compared to a bike.
