Don't some bikes have a parking light position on the steering lock?

Yes. Went out for a short ride yesterday with my mate and I explained what happened to him. That's the first thing he said. We checked it out and yes it does, however, on mine it is quite fiddly to get in that position. There are no markings on the top of the ignition barrel on mine. You live and learn smile

Well this morning's commute wasn't ideal

Spitting so much as you couldn't have the visor open, but not enough to clear your vision, I also arrived with a wet crotch :/

Even now it's still moist :/

That's good going, I am doing just under 20k a year.

A slightly spesh guy on a white VFR today. Followed me from St Thomas's Hospital to Holborn. Don't know whether he was offended by my 2 years older VFR, the lack of superfluous hard luggage or that I was wearing jeans, a comfy leather jacket and a small rucksack rather than full hi vis textiles, a 'polite' tabard and checks on a white helmet but he was desperate to get past me, despite me riding as progressively as was safe for the conditions.

So desperate that the shag-witted pillock nailed it out of the Aldwydch tunnel onto Kingsway and through the lights where he came within a gnats chuff of being taken out by the right-turning transit that I'd seen because I'd bothered to get my road position right

I was doing 5000 a month when i started my new job. I am down to 3000 a month now. This will likely drop even more when I start doing an extra day at home!

Still, should hit 80k by the time this year is out. The bike had paid for itself 3 times over in the first year, in comparison to the train!

More greyness, with a little mist & the odd spot of moistness thrown in. WTF happened to summer?

Not a bad run into today. Grey overcast couple of tiny spots of rain but basically dry and not cold at all - too hot with my gortex gear on all sealed up initially.
My highlight not rushing just cruising along Southwalk street from the bridge enjoying the light holiday traffic and easily catching an early 2000s Older brother Speed Triple - thinking hmm whats he doing pootling along so slowly and left towards the curb in the lane behind the bus in front? The guy just exhibiting odd and a little clueless london riding ability, I could tell in less than 60sec he's not a regular London filterer. Irritating thing he spots me catching him (bonus points for mirror use) as I'm about to filter past the bus in the correct middle of the road position and really gasses it past the bus in a straight line up to the next lights.. after then not stopping at the front and pulling away slowly then basically blocks me from filtering through to the next set of lights between the 4 wheeled stuff cos his mirrors both would come into contact with the vans either side, fixed in seconds by moving the bars and leaning round them but no just sits there like a lemon because he's bloody useless. I'm guessing these people really think they're riding gods, just strikes me as weird to be that crap but knowingly have to cain it in a straight line to keep ahead lol
Roll on a couple of months when the tw*ts like this will be gone for the winter

This, very depressing :/

Separately was glad of the extra power the CBR had last night, Catford 1 way system near the turn in for the retail park...car stopped in right lane hazards on and a bus stopped in the left lane at the stop only slightly further ahead...bus following decides to try and take the slalom when I am already there! (in the remaining part of the RH lane) Big squeeze in 2nd and I'm through - not sure if the gap would have fully closed if I was still on the old 125!

Huge amount of diesel on the roundabout at junction 7 of the M4 this morning. Lost the front and rear, fortunately I stayed up and the poo stayed inside but the closest I have come to an off in a long time. Other then that not a bad run, not looking forward to the schools going back in a couple of weeks though.

Agreed, A pet hate of mine too. The drivers who use fog lights should be made to look through a rain covered visor to see just how much of a pain it is.

Agree to about DRLs. The difference is the driver chooses to put their fog lights on.

The new Fiesta appears to have more DRL on the front of it than it does any other frontal surface.

The commute has been almost painless. Was in town in 45 minutes today which is a new record for door-to-door.

The biggest downside on the commute at the moment is other bikers. Not because they're particularly bad or good but I'm faster through some types of traffic and they are faster through others. It's always a pain feeling that you could be through that set of lights if it wasn't for the herbert in front but I'm sure that they're thinking the same about me.

Poxing rain scheduled for this evening's commute. Perfect. Is summer now three weeks in June?

The really dangerous thing about DRL is that people think they have there lights on as the front lights are on, yet the rear ones are not and in fog it is really dangerous. I once encountered a silver van with his DRL on but front behind he was almost invisible.

Had an argument with a much bigger guy than me this mornig in white van. He'd covered 2 lanes at the front of the lights, looks like he'd chose the wrong lane, it happens. Pulled up next to him and he was reading a newspaper so I gave the standard blip of the throttle and dissaproving nod.

Shockingly he was super aggressive. Had his head out the window "have you got a problem!". Yeah mate your reading a paper, you need to concentrate and there's about 100 pedestrians around us. What it gotta do with you blaa blaa blaa. Had a bout a minutes back and forth and thought he was going to get out and punch me but I'm also a little mouthy and won't be bullied. He ended it with fk off, then threw his paper and sped off on his ways. The lights was still on red for a good 30 seconds afterwards. What a nob.

Very hot in the jacket this morning, unsure why...

Arrived at work with a wet shirt, it wasn't rain!
