Had an argument with a much bigger guy than me this mornig in white van. He'd covered 2 lanes at the front of the lights, looks like he'd chose the wrong lane, it happens. Pulled up next to him and he was reading a newspaper so I gave the standard blip of the throttle and dissaproving nod.
You acknowledge that "it happens" but you decided remonstrate anyway and start a confrontation with the international sign of the holier-than-thou wally - an engine rev and a head shake? Thanks for contributing to our popularity as a group. 308mate said:

I would have done the same if I was in the car. I'm really sorry for you if this retards opinion of bikers has gone down a notch but bis blatant disregard for others and the rules is digusting. Some people just need telling/informing or else they'd never give a toss.Super agressive white van man in Vauxhall this morning, pissed that I filtered to the front of the traffic lights. He was keen to get ahead of me after the lights went green, I calmly let him and then moved over to the bus lane and sailed past while he was in a traffic queue near the new US Embassy. You could almost see the steam coming out of his ears.
Is it a full moon tonight?
Had a guy in a white Fiesta going absolute ape s**t at me this morning for filtering past him approaching a set of traffic lights.
Thing is though, in order for him to go ape s**t at me, he had to make up a good few hundred yards to catch me up (the road was pretty clear beyond the traffic lights) then sat right on my back tyre blaring his horn and giving it the old performing seal routine clap.
The old Land Rover I was now behind must have seen this, so pulled as far left as possible to allow me to nip past him and get out of this guys way.
I can only assume that people do this type of thing due to their ego? Is it because I had `won' and cleared the lights ahead of him? Therefore in their eyes I've got one over him and `mugged him off'?

Looking at getting a new old bike to replace the old bike for the commute - currently on a 98 Fireblade, looking to swap for Fireblade 954 or a K4/5 GSXR 750.
I commute from Maidstone to London, anyone had both bikes? What would be better on fuel? I know both bikes wont be great on fuel - Im doing 25 miles motorway/dual carriageway & 15 through town. I had a K4 600 GSXR years ago and loved it but only seemed to get about 120 miles to the reserve light flashing but did cane it everywhere..
Will also be doing the odd track day here and there aswell as commuting.

Correct answer is two bikes, one to commute and one for trackdays I commute from Maidstone to London, anyone had both bikes? What would be better on fuel? Had it last night as well.
Creases me up at people getting annoyed at bikes filtering. Some people look like they are actually going to cry.
Makes me laugh even more. How s

I get it all the time - it seems many motorists don't actually realise that filtering is legal. I had similar in the car the other day. I was following a line of some six cars on a very busy A road, the first one refusing to go over 50 in a NSL. Approaching a 4 way roundabout, with all of us going straight on, I was the only car to use the right hand lane, & passed all of them on the roundabout. I got handsomely hooted by at least two of them. I didn't cut anybody up whatsoever. Creases me up at people getting annoyed at bikes filtering. Some people look like they are actually going to cry.

You're very welcome ![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)
Best leave it there now eh or else an endless amount of uneccessary and pontless sarky comments will just go on and on won't they.
No dramas this morning, actually one of the quickest rides in I've ever had.

Thanks for contributing to our popularity as a group. Last night, on my usual commute, I pulled up at the end of Alie Street to turn right onto Commercial Rd. In front of me were a CB500 and a cyclist, side by side. No words or looks exchanged. I sat behind them. It's a wide turn onto Commercial Rd with plenty of space.
The instant the lights went green, super-cyclist was off like a scalded cat, but instead of riding the correct line, he turned straight across the front of the bike and hogged the island in the middle of the road as he turned right. CB500 man was cool about it, but did pull up alongside the cyclist and point out his error. Cyclist was having none of it. I know it's a constant "us & them" thing between every cyclist and anyone who isn't a cyclist, but honestly this guy was just asking for trouble. Must admit I did join in and point out to the cyclist that he was in fact wrong.
Stranger still, as we rode off along the road, at 30mph (ish) the cyclist was having no trouble keeping up; in fact what with traffic lights etc, I saw him again as we got to Poplar; good effort on the speed & fitness front if nothing else!

All well and good going that pace on a bicycle, but they aren't designed to stop well at that sort of speed. My memory of pushbike brakes are that they are a bit all or nothing. I remember going over the bars of my Raleigh Olympus more than once Pothole said:

Special mention to the taxi driver this week who spat out of his window at the exact moment I went past him. The resultant mess hit my screen and then fluttered down the side of the bike and me in the time it took pull up and remonstrate. The tissue he provided to wipe up his disgusting mess (a surprising amount) was duly thrown back through the window of his taxi. Dirty
