Few pics from Founders Day at Stamford Hall, Leics, new event to me, focused on the (even) older stuff mainly brit stuff , some fantastic machines about and the owners/riders where real characters, everyone got a chance to ride their bike around the arena, which gives everyone else the chance to hear the bikes as well.

My personal favourite, 1914 sidecar/machine gun platform combo...

Loving this one! My grandad was in WW2 and had a similar setup I'm told. Used to love hearing the stories as a kid

Absolutely perfect.

Being picky the matt panel colour match isn’t quite right but I’m replacing it all so doesn’t matter.

The gloss panels needed polishing properly as they were packed before fully cured so gassed a bit dulling the lacquer... not a big deal as know a man who can... biggrin

Put the rear footpegs on and I'll take you for a spin to get your head sorted.

I sold them ... absolute sod to remove so I’d never fit them again. They’d have saved the rear tail unit ironically ... :/

Is it sad that I knew that or just proof that I grew up in a different Era??

Built in the riders shed! Scooter underneath the bodywork..

That is the most brilliant two wheeled contraption that I have seen for a very long time.

Ideal for pottering down to the pub.

Any more info?

Was it that Fantic that the pedals didn't actually lock but just hung down together and swung back and forth, or was that the Garelli? As a proud SS50 owner our pedals locked smile but IIRC they locked to the swing arm, so as the swing arm went up and down so the pedals went down and up.

A 5th year lad at school arrived on Fantic Chopper one day, and while we were impressed with the styling, by that time we were 6th year lads with proper 250s, and so mopeds were 'beneath us'. But in retrospect it was a well styled bike for a 16 year-old; indeed that whole era with SS50s, FS1Es etc were good looking bikes with some ingenious workarounds to allow them to be pedalled....well sort of...

Done a bit of work on my scruffy commuter... installed a top box, painted the horrible scratched silver screen with some peelable black paint I had in the garage, replace the levers with some with working adjusters and delinked the brakes.
