Ride yesterday - https://www.gentlemansride.com/. Basically - vintage, classic and retro styled bikes (or actual vintage and classic bikes) with riders dressed up in 'dapper' clothing in aid of men's heath charidees. 100.000+ riders globally, and apparently $5.6m raised this year so far. Happy to share my donation account details is anyone wants to add to the total
Despite looking sunny yesterday, certainly on the East coast of Scotland it felt cold as hell - so despite trying to look dapper, most folks had thermals on underneath the suits and bow-ties - but at least it stayed dry. I've usually done the Edinburgh ride, but this year there were enough riders to make a Fife ride..
Started in Kirkcaldy.
Shameless photo of me in dapper gear. I ain't no lightweight, but not quite as bulky as the photo suggested - but I had multiple layers of thermals underneath all that, plus Knox knee and elbow protectors, plus a back protector.
...and ended up at the Old Course hotel for soup, sarnies and a band laid on for us
Very well organised this year and a nice we run round the East Neuk of Fife - but that was more down to the local organisers than anything from on-high within the DGR.
Cool...I think your bike perfectly suits these theme of rideouts, wouldnt it be great if all bike ride outs ended with a band playing !Despite looking sunny yesterday, certainly on the East coast of Scotland it felt cold as hell - so despite trying to look dapper, most folks had thermals on underneath the suits and bow-ties - but at least it stayed dry. ...and a kilted concierge directing us to park right out front of the foyer of the Old Course Hotel None of this 'park it round the back mate' stuff, or miles away in a gravel car park. If only all soup and sarnie stops were like this.Did snett sunday. Only my second track day on the gsxr as I lost the buzz a bit but I must say I really enjoyed it
Was a bit rusty though. Best was 2.06s averaging 2.07s. Lost my flow a bit but I'm sure I'll pick it back up
Had a go on a friends very trick R1M...holy crap they are bonkers! Its had alot of money thrown at it and has a fair bit more go than a standard one and to be honest it was too much. Pinning it every opportunity I could would just have WC kicking in hard and my arms being pulled out!
The electronics package is unreal - it can make a average rider look very good haha

I didn't realise your track bike had anti wheelie coz your wheelies are gay.

Was good to see you George, well done as you set some cracking times!
Cheers, good to see you too. Hopefully will go back next year and do better when I get my bike issues all sorted! How to get curry stains out if your Polo top.
Treat with Vanish as per manufacturers indtructions. If you are lucky it will come out if you are not it will leave a small yellow stain. Hang your shirt outside to dry on the line and leave it there come rain or shine and the stain will slowly disappear. Just done my latest white Polo top and it took three weeks using this method.

Photo's like this kinda make me start to think about getting something more upright for days out, rather than a sports bike.
You should give it a go. I don't think I could live without a sports bike of some description in the garage but for days like last weekend when it started out at 3°c but was crisp and sunny, it's great fun to get a big old horse of a bike down some pissy little backroads - some of which are literally falling apart - as an alternative to blatting on predictably smooth roads. And, of course, the joy of seeing a BOAT and knowing you can go exploring is great
