Sat in a layby waiting for the AA to turn up. Been 2 hours since calling and they are now only 40 minutes away apparently.

Should have never moved from Start Rescue frown

I've explained it's a stator failure, not roadside repairable and I need recovery - if a patrol turns up and calls for recovery I might just lose it...

Passed my test 2 and a half weeks ago, so only been riding that length of time. Work from home so make sure I take the bike out every day to be better acquainted for the summer miles.

I did my CBT/DAS in December/January, so I only know what it's like to ride when you're absolutely freezing. Today was the first day the temperature was in double digits - absolute bliss! Even motorway miles weren't chilling. Can't wait for the warmer weather now.

Now that you have passed, keep taking the bike out and get miles under your belt.

Don;t know if this is a thing but I've been having issues with people pulling U-turns in front of me (from the opposing carriageway to go in my direction), typically Uber drivers/people wanting to skip a right turn filter light.

The prize plums for where this has been happening of late:

In the new road/traffic system opposite the exit to Lewisham DLR (not at the lights but crossing the DWL's between the 2 sets)
Opposite the fire station on the OKR
Great Dover Street near Borough station

Thing is, they see you coming and just fking do it anyway with no fks given :/

Thing is you come to anticipate it but continually wonder why they chose to do it in that precise location, often on main arterial roads and despite the traffic mayhem they're causing.

Most recent example was here (but in the evening rush hour):

Sometimes I find when you have these blatant errors, the driver will either give you the finger and blame you or play ignorant like it never even happened. We all make mistakes, sht happens but it annoys the sht out of me when it's not acknowledged or blame is passed. A hand up and a sorry is all that is needed for everyone to move on from it but it's quite hard to get that nowadays.

You mention Lewisham, don't think it needs further explanation its a driving talent hotspot (not) in London.
Same deal recently for me.
I had to emergency stop almost (kill 95% of my forward momentum anyway) when a blackcab U turned from being parked stationary at the curb in a layby/parking area with zero indication right across in front of me about 5pm coming home last week on southwark street. Its basically like he didn't even see me or want to see me.
Another morning last week some idiot decided to badly 3 point turn their polo across right in front of me while I was heading north to south over southwark bridge, they can't not have seen me they just decided to do it anyway. Where they did this was about the most inappropriate place to 3 point turn your car possible.

Lane closed on the Euston Road eastbound causing fairly big queues back to Gt Portland Street, I dare say this’ll be much worse later..

Come across a grade A nob this morning. On a long straight'ish A road, admittedly I speeding (about 80mph on a 60mph), nothing behind me and 1 car way ahead. I was in the overtake lane for a while before approaching, got a few metres behind him and suddenly put his right indicator on and moved the car into my lane by half a metre. Had to brake quite a bit, he slowly took his indicator off and moved back over to the left. As I went passed he had a smirk on his face. Prk. His mirror would have come off if he we'd stopped at the next set of lights for sure.

Rear tyre easily legal, but worn, & I think the rubber has somehow 'gone off'. Slippery as hell this morning, despite dry roads.
I will need to shell out for a new one imminently...............

Riding home and somebody drove into my elbow, in part my fault but no damage done.

Heading out of town down the Jamacia road I near-stopped alongside another car to let a few cars turn across us into a side road (red light ahead, 1 or 2 cars back from this is the turning they were going into) just before I actually stop the lights turn green and both I and the car to my left start to go, me a little quicker.

Needless to say the next car looking to turn doesn't actually stop when/where they should and ends up partially across my lane, I slow and move in by maybe 20cm to miss his front corner.....the car that I was stopped alongside doesn't slow and carrys on accelerating - hitting my elbow with the mirror. Thankfully it hit the elbow armour, we were both going slowly and her mirror pushed in as it should....we both just carried on going but it would be nice if people could actually react to traffic, good job I ride pretty conservatively!

Highlight - Broken down EU plated artic right at the tightest junction/lights on the highway this morning heading west into town just before the McDonalds/BP Garage. Causing complete gridlocked traffic all the way back through the limehouse link and on to Aspen way. Passed 3 police cars stuck in the traffic. As I arrived at the blockage another Artic literally had inches to spare to attempt to pass this stranded truck, was passing about about 0.5mph.
Bonus once passed virtually zero traffic until just before Southwark bridge where I cross the river save for a second bonus for truck drivers after the width restriction another Traffic cops roadside checkpoint taking out one of the lanes on lower thames street - these guys only like the large vans and trucks never interested in bikes or cars. They seem to have this once every couple of weeks now and it can sometimes cause nice peak time queues.

Nice ride in this morning, dry, cool, roads relatively clear. There was a crash on the M4 Eastbound just before Slough and I must have arrived at the scene a mere minutes after it had happened, outside two lanes blocked, but once past it, empty motorway for a few miles which was nice.
