Did anyone watch the James May programme a few days ago where he sent an Action Man supersonic?
During a smallcpart of the programme May visited a toy fair , which to me looked like a lot of fun...never been to one before but today I dragged the Mrs and kids to one at the NEC...It was bloody brilliant for a 50 year old boy!
Toys for boys and girls from every decade, from Atari's to model kits, really very vintage toys and everything inbetween...prices ranged from £2 to £5000..
anyway, feel free to take the piss, the rest of my family did but I didnt care as I came home with a Star Wars blaster, a couple of Dinky toys and ordered an Action Man....came home a very happy boy , best Xmas ever!

Can anyone read the price on that Sramble Game - my old one is in the loft in it's immaculate box (complete with mains adaptor!).During a smallcpart of the programme May visited a toy fair , which to me looked like a lot of fun...never been to one before but today I dragged the Mrs and kids to one at the NEC...It was bloody brilliant for a 50 year old boy!

They make about £50 usually. Not brilliant prices, but a really playable game, so worth holding on to IMHO. New to these parts, but thought would start with this, found a photo of my first bike 'ahem' around 27 or so years ago
I needed a new tire, so why not As you can see No Gear and No Idea
Lout lyfe!I needed a new tire, so why not As you can see No Gear and No Idea
Thinking about this pic, it does take dedication to the art when you consider that someone would have to bring a camera specially, you'd take a few shots, pay good money to get them processed into prints, then you've held onto this picture for however many years, scanned it into the computer and then uploaded it here. Not like kids nowadays who pretty much have a tiny camera with them all the time and can publish pictures such as this with about two clicks on the screen of their phone!
So props to you, and to all the others here in BB and the wider PH who took the time to capture these moments and are willing to share

True point that. My son (15) has a new iphone and makes stuff like this seem easy with a quick clickThinking about this pic, it does take dedication to the art when you consider that someone would have to bring a camera specially, you'd take a few shots, pay good money to get them processed into prints, then you've held onto this picture for however many years, scanned it into the computer and then uploaded it here. Even 12-15 years ago I remember phones were too primitive. I think they were VGA or WVGA? Cant remember now but its what my boy would say 'potato cam' now
I have only a few memories of my racing from the 90's and 00's which were all photos ive scanned into the PC
My first 'digital' picture was a fujifilm 2mp cam that cost me £399 from Argos and its the picture below. I think its 14 years old now.
Approx 2004
All the others are scans. I have many of my dads racing in the 70's and 80's and some are real classics now in a photo album up in the attic. I painstakingly scanned the majority into the PC a few years ago to keep the memories forever

i was at the Ariel factory yesterday
hugely expensive, but seeing the Ace up close, what a gorgeous object
particularly this one - think it was the R
black anodised chassis, carbon wheels and 200bhp
has anyone ridden one? looks mega and I imagine it must be bulletproof with Honda mechanicals
I went to the factory last year before buying the H2. hugely expensive, but seeing the Ace up close, what a gorgeous object

black anodised chassis, carbon wheels and 200bhp

I love the Ace, Yes a little more expensive that I wanted but the reason i did not go for the ACE was not the waiting time. 9 months but that it's not faired. And having faired and no faired I wanted something with a little protection. And it's just a Honda 1200cc V4. again nice but wanted something different.
Ok the H2 is not as exclusive as the Ace. Just was not sure about going back to unfired bike. And must have the carbon wheels to make it just look that little bit better. And also 28k's worth of bike
I took a long time thinking about what I wanted and have never looked back after buying my current bike.
The build quality and engineering was very nice, although for a custom high value bike it was quite apparently Honda based with engine, switchgear, instruments etc telling you so.
Its a good size....not quite as nimble as say an MV Brutale 1090 or Superduke 1290, more like a Diavel to ride. This particular bike was setup with a quite relaxed riding position. Lovely ride quality and well setup.
The engine and power delivery was lovely, as was the noise. I rode a couple of hundred mile stints on it over a long weekend.
The big drawback for me and why I did not proceed further, was that beautifully machined frame. It looks great and defines the bike, but I did not find it comfortable to grip onto around the inside of my legs. The body interface to the bike is not a smooth shape to move about on, its some triangular metal beams.
I rode in kevlar jeans with knee armour one day, and wondered if it was just me, next day rode in full leathers and the experience was still the same, I just couldn't get comfortable on the bike. Shame as I really though it was a great bit of kit.
