He has been invisible at Alpine and they have endured a hopeless season on track and in management.

Not surprised if he heads back to MotoGP

That would be a good hire I think

Hard to say how much of the failures have been down to puig though .. but sometimes change is good in general. A fresh perspective from someone with experience in the same field etc.

Might also be pushed there by Rossi for marini's sake he and Vale are very good friends. He will have been paid very well by Renault of course!!

Thinks have seemed very turbulent at alpine / Renault F1 for a while... Now they seem more interested in social media and dicking about with celebs than the Racing.

Its a great hire (I mentioned as much a couple of weeks ago).

They've already got Ken Kawauchi as Technical Manager, who was with Brivio and Mir at Suzuki when they took the championship.

Puig's days were numbered the moment Marc left...

irrespective of previous achievements, he's been in charge during their worst slump in performance, the development of a dud bike and the departure of their star act, driven purely because of the poor performance.
Things need to change at Honda and that starts from the top...

Davide Brivio has left the Alpine F1 team, rumoured to be replacing Puig at Honda. Mir will be happy.
....and others!

I have a feeling things could turn round quite quickly for Honda now, but regardless Marc made the right choice.

I think Marini may have played a blinder for his career.

It's probably going to take years to sort their issues out.

The other possibility is running the Trackhouse Aprilia team.

That's what I mean, a couple of years for Marini isn't so bad. Not great for Mir and would've been career ending for Marc.

The call from a factory team only happens so often, Marini has taken his chance. Look at Joe "Ronnie Pickering" Roberts, who knocked back what turned out to be arguably the second best bike on the grid to stay in Moto2. tumbleweed

Agree with this. Already talk of Marc even possibly returning in '25 if the bike is improved next year, would be cool to see.

Marini was great at the test and the feedback from Mir was positive too (I think it's the first bit of positive feedback Mir has given all year). Puig needs to go and good riddance quite frankly. Couldn't believe his comments when asked about Marini, he was like yeah well we've lost Marc and we didn't really have many options, so we went with Luca. Way to welome a guy to your team.

Always liked Brivio, will be great to see him back in MotoGP and pairing up with Kawauchi, Mir etc as mentioned can only be a positive thing. He won championships with Rossi iirc so the pairing with Marini is cool too.

Yamaha, maybe (well, definitely) - but I don't think so with Honda. At least they are making radical changes.

Yes, he's wrong, Yamaha have been pissing about forever with their platform waiting for the time to make the jump to another configuration. Honda have serious chassis issues and Puig has exacerbated the issue IMO.

You don't need a time machine, just some basic understanding of current engine configurations.
