Picked up my first new bike since 2011 earlier this year. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, it's a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, but it's a nice ride and I've enjoyed getting to do all the small mods, like a tail tidy, that I did years ago on my old bike.
Have a soft spot for these! Really nice putting your own little touches to a new bike Got any photos?black-k1 said:

Trip to the Pyrenees with my father, long time cycling fan's and first time there, just seeing what they were like, brilliant.
Oddest moment was getting off the bike on the top of the Aubisque, as 4 other bikers pulled in and parked up. First thing I hear is, "Thought we recognized ye", it was 4 Northern Ireland lads we had met on a day trip out about a month before back home.

South coast ride back in August: I rode through Bexhill, Hastings, Rye, Camber, Dungeness, & on to Hythe. Return journey slightly more inland on B roads & narrow country lanes. A bit of everything, great scenery & took around 4 hours. I particularly like Romney Marsh for some reason....

Have a road trip to York in a couple of weeks.
Plenty of good roads and pubs round here, sing out if you want any recommendations For me, I’ve been really too busy to ride much at all. Still, replacing the rear suspension and front brakes on the NC30 really made me appreciate how good a bike it still is when I did get to take it out.
Plan on riding over to Harrogate too.
Had 2 real highlights this year.
First was heading over to Normandy to take in the 75th D Day commemorations and having the opportunity to meet with and talk to some of the veterans ...then heading off to Ypres in Belgium, where I found out the last known point my great granddad was and the area where he was awarded a Military Medal during WW1
Other less emotional but memorable highlight was a (very) small gathering to mark the 35th anniversary of the RD500s launch at a CRMC round at Donnington, with a few parade laps thrown in as part of the VJMC ...Brilliant day out that was.

Highlights of 2019
Going to Daytona Bike Week in March. Buying full stage 3 kit for my Harley. Completely different bike after kit fitted.
Spending week in Pyrenees in May with Austin Vince and some friends on my Honda crf250 Rally.
Riding my turbo busa at Elvington in September and setting new personal best speed in standing mile of 214.44 mph
Entering twisty sprint in Jersey in October on my old BMW GS.

Definitely the Old Gits Dolomites trip with my son who had just got his licence. A great week that enhanced his riding no end and one that proved a 30 odd year old 2 stroke can hack 1,500 miles in a week screaming around the the Alps.
For those thinking of it, I can heartily recommend the OG trips. Black K1 does a superb job organising, the destinations are spectacular and the company excellent. There's a real spread of people and abilities.
