The ones that do let some sound through; bought a motorbike to enjoy the bike noise and the sounds of the countryside when pootling. The sound-deadening ones would have been too much for me I think.

Now…which colour did I go for? A sort of psychedelic cat sick!

Going on from the prices I have to agree to an extent

Parking being something like £17 now unless pre booked. Tickets at circa £30 with an 'admin fee'

I'm fortunate enough to know enough 'influencers' so get in and do a bit of social content. We go up in 1 car and split parking so circa £12 split 4 ways

Diesel to get there and back is about £30 which again split 4 ways. It shouldnt be an expensive day out - it should be a fun day with mates to enjoy bikes when weather stops the fun due to time of year

I did see some deals on clothing. Bought myself a few Astar tee's at 20 quid a pop. Recently bought a new X803 Gold Edition and first ride out realised there is a reason its a race type lid - way too noisy for road so thats now my 2024 track lid along with my Pista

After a lot of thinking decided to buy a Shoei GT-Air 2 with the Sena built in mesh. They GT Air 3 I couldnt justify the extra money. See some Spidi w/proof textiles half price - really good deal with the jacket at £149 but couldnt justify spending anymore with all the race bikes, track bike etc so will change next year

Liked seeing the old and new

Bonkers power with these. Would love to drag one of these at Santa Pod

The one Carwow & few YouTubers have been dragging

Giving myself ideas on a winter project for my race trailer

Problem being I have no idea how I can cut mdf or similar round the inside of the cone and then fix up with enough strength to hold a microwave

This gave me Tron movie vibes. 17.3kw prototype battery. Problem with these (ignoring sound) is the battery size, weight and size. Its the equivalent of an IBM computer from the 1980s or LED bulbs 10-15 years ago when in their infancy

I couldnt find any info on miles per kw but my wife owns a 500e which is about as efficient as they come in cars. Claims 5 miles per kw realistically with me driving its more like 2.6-3.5. Work on assumption the bike is a realistic 6-7 miles per kw I cant see these doing more than 105-120 miles. Thats not too far off a ICE bike but its charge time and convenience. I cant think of a single place I ride (biker cafe) that has chargers and then there's the time to charge which typically based on current bike charge speeds would be 2-3 hours

I wouldnt normally harp on about it but for anyone thats been to the bike show in the last 3 years you'll know how much EV presence there is. The numbers just dont add up for me right now not to mention these bikes weigh 1/4 of a tonne!

Anyways...back to things I like and can appreciate for at least the next 10 years or so. I am an aprilia guy but no presence at the show and Ducati drop this in which looked incredible. 2025 could see me switch sides

My memories of Benelli are a quirky italian brand having owned a Tornado 900. The chinese took the brand and have created a big range now but the below just screams Triumph 765

I quite liked this. Nice to see Yamaha doing something different

This 'prototype' looks production ready. For MX riders its common knowledge keeping a track open is hard with noise. For city indoor supercross or tracks where noise is a real issue I see sense in these

This made me laugh. Probably the biggest road legal pickup I've seen next to a mate who is 5ft 1in

And finished with a couple vintage bikes which for some reason I always seem drawn too

Looks like a decent event, the cost is pretty high though.

I thought that Benelli WAS a Triumph before I read your text. It's a shame Triumph didn't have their MX bike ready yet, I can't wait to see what it properly looks like.

That Ducati looks odd to me. I'm a fan of 50/50 wheel paint, but that looks like it has pooled at the bottom. laugh

I booked ticket in advance I think it was £23

Parking for bikes is free but it's only circa £10 to park a car at the Train station with a shorter walk than from the NEC car parks

I went to the Classic Car show but only because I got a free ticket - same old stuff every year

I think I’ll give it a miss next year. Decent day out when we went on the Sunday but only because of the company with 3 of my bike mates. We left after just under 2 hours and went to the pub.

Lots of great bikes there but I don’t know, just doesn’t grip me as an event. I think once you’ve done it, you’ve done it and it’s so samey samey it’s not worthwhile.

Even last year pricing of the gear there was much better than this year. Last year I bought a helmet, boots and gloves. All on sale there again but in total £200 more than I paid last year

Much better prices on line these days than exhibitions generally I find.

Love the Mk1 KTT Velocette. Rare bike, we've got one the same and they're amazing things! Ours was pretty much only used on track but it's been retired now as it's too loud and isn't allowed on any UK tracks any more frown

Got a Scott too, ours is proper mental. Been bored out to 600cc and only got two gears, with a clutch on each gear. Ours will wheelie off the throttle in either gear, not bad for a 95 year old bike hehe

I’m after an abba skylift - did anyone see if they had a show offer? They often do and it might make it worth going!
Yes they do. I remember walking past it yesterday as a guy was demonstrating how you can pivot teh bike around in mid air.
Think it was £425, but i wasn't paying that much attention.

Better than last year. Bit more of a buzz about it. KTM making a real effort with all the brands KTM, Gas Gas, Husqvarna, CF moto and MV Augusta.

However in amongst the usual odd stalls around the edge selling woo woo beads or whatever, this won my award for the most random stand at a motorcycle show confusedlaugh

Just been thrown out at 5pm and got here at 10.30

I'm happy to look at / sit on everything and have a chat about bikes of particular interest

Wasn't really looking for a helmet but I'm tempted by some of the offers particularly this one

The NEC management do seem to be hell bent on killing the golden goose.

A lot of the staff that work on the big manufacturers stands are temps that also work other shows at the NEC, I was talking to a young lady on one stand and she was telling me how shows that had been regulars at the NEC were going to other venues due to multiple factors with the main one being price.

I noticed quite a few exhibitors had much smaller stands than previous years and Kriega were conspicuous by their absence

Not gone this year for the first time in ages (Covid excepted).
Used to regularly go with two mates, one of whom was all done by 1pm (as previous poster) and badgering us to go home.
The other mate and I would literally be moved along by security at 5:15... with most of the last 90 minutes being spent in ever decreasing circles trying to find the stalls we'd seen earlier and wanted to buy from, not having found the same gear any cheaper elsewhere. Same panic every year laugh

I did spend 30 mins queuing for a test ride on a Zero and maybe an hour getting ready / riding it

Been today, some gorgeous models from kawasaki and good to see the new cbr. I'm sick of matt black though when will it ever end.

Also did anyone else think royal Enfields twins finish has really deteriorated? I rode one a few years ago and thought it was a great well finished bike. Today they looked really cheap.

Went today and had a chilled walk round. Most obvious thing is the demographics; the younger generation were all over the retro stuff not the sports or ‘adventure’ stuff. Some really cool things at really affordable prices may signal a new generation of bikers smile

My favourite thing was the same as last year, the Langdon!

Went today. It was such an improvement on last year. Caught up with a few friends and ex-colleagues on various stands.

Some really nice bikes to see and get up close to. Spoke with Peter Hickman about ordering an Ohvale GP2 once my GP0 is sold. I think he was thankful to talk about something other than the TT and Macau.

Also put my deposit on a Maeving RM1S while I was there. Look to be a really nice bit of kit and the spec is very impressive in my opinion. Ktech shocks and fork internals, HEL braided lines, stainless steel fittings and lots of carbon. What’s not to like!

Delivery should be in April/May time.

It’s a Bosch hub motor, 7kw continuous or 10.5Kw peak. Top speed is supposedly 70mph but my commute will only allow 60 anyway, then a range of 80 miles depending on use. But as long as I get 40 I’m happy as that’s my round trip smile
