You want your dream bike.

People say buy your dream bike.

You wonder if it’s worth it.

Pointless basically.

Time and summer is passing you by.

You won't get a GSX-S750 for £3K. GSR750 don't seem much cheaper but I don't know if you could get a GSR750 for £3K. A PHer in Scotland picked one up for a good price in a private sale.

Get yourself, your lid and gloves to a dealer and have a go on a Meteor 350:

£3K new and available with low rate interest. A doddle to move around the garage.

Spending money on toys, whether it's a classic Fireblade or not, may just be a temporary distraction.

£4400, Just saying. At that price, I'd get one if I never had two sat in the garage. Don't curse me for the first 620 miles though when its limited.

I know I know, im coming to terms that in my head I want a GSXS/Fireblade/Ninja636, BUT im not Dean Harrison or Rory Skinner and what I can really ride is something like the Meteor 350 even though its an old mans bike and a bit lame with 20bhp compared to what I think I want.

£205 for the first service, a bit of a piss take but I meant more the fact it's not a great bike unless its screaming at 10,000 RPM.

You'd have to do 1,000 Km running in. It'll do 70 while still within the running limit.

It's a single cylinder so servicing shouldn't be too expensive. They check the valve clearances at the running in period.

Potteries is around you way isn't it?

I love the look of the early Fireblades but the roads I use mean A2 bikes provide sufficient performance.

Mines was just an oil and filter, so was my Mrs. I believe in the newer ones its at 9,000 miles they check clearances.

Im quite lucky in that id have 2 KTM dealers within 20 miles or 3 Royal Enfield dealers within 20 miles.

[quote=A500leroy]Yes its me again...

Those of you who stalk my posts will know I do this once a year, but a bit of back story first.

Ive tried to avoid buying another big/mid sized bike for a year now, Ive tried to distract myself with a newer posher car (hasnt worked) ,a scooter (hasnt really worked but still fun), considered buying a Dutton Kit car ( looked like trouble or death) and so here we are.

I Sold all my bikes last year after a bit of ill health and not being 100% it was a good idea to ride.

But Im coming back round now and with a reasonably significant birthday at some point this year and a trip to Superbike factory whilst I was at BSB the addiction is coming back.

Ive got some possible bikes on mind that could start me off again, What do you think to these for summer time odd runabouts?

( Ive mentally vetoed my dream Fireblade as looking at the performance figures its too much for a road bike)

So

First up the just enough bikes.

Kawasaki Z300

Kawasaki Ninja 400

BMW G310r

The (to me) dream bikes

Suzuki GSXS750

Kawasaki zxr6 636 Ninja ( around 2011/2015)

Wont be buying till later this year

If you’re interested in a Kawasaki ZX6R 636, I’ve had a 2015 Performance Edition since 2016. In my ownership it’s been very lightly ridden (middle aged man on a Sportsbike) and has done 3,800 miles.

If you’re interested PM me. I wouldn’t want fortunes for it and just haven’t got round to advertising it.

It's impossible to answer the question. Everyone has different requirements, different prejudices, different priorities.

So I'll suggest the CfMoto 650NK, not for the usual reason - that I own one which suits my needs perfectly, but because I'm curious to know what Chinese bikes are like these days and I need a guinea pig. smile

https://cfmoto-motorcycle.eu/uk/en/motorcycles/nak...
https://bikes.fowlers.co.uk/cfmoto/new-bikes/naked...

£4500 on the road (or less, some dealers are advertising them at £4000, but that may be +OTR charges).
4 year warranty
56bhp / 60bhp (sources vary - the CfMoto website says 41.5kW on one page and 61.2PS on another)

Pros:
Price
Warranty
Licence-built Kawasaki engine
Association with KTM - CfMoto manufactures the 790 engine
KTM are the importers, so spares availability should be as good as KTM's

Cons:
Country of origin?
Licence-built Kawasaki engine
Association with KTM - CfMoto manufactures the 790 engine
KTM are the importers, so spares availability should be as good as KTM's
Depreciation (but I suppose 50% of not very much is not very much)
Insurance?
