Lost car/job and all that caper last week so ive robbed the Mrs CBR to attend interviews and generally get about on, not a huge distance covered so far but ive been doing roughly 60 miles a day on it in all weathers.
My admiration grows for these things, for a 20 year old bike, it does everything brilliantly, its a damn sight more stable and maneuverable at higher speed than my S1000R.(On occasion the "commute" has turned into a BSS race..) and still comes up well after a blast with the hose to remove all the salt. Certainly the finish is better than the BMW.
When I last commuted/had a bike as sole transport it was the early 90s and while ive enjoyed the drier days, the cold wet ones havent been as jolly now im a 50 something but its really paid off on occasions such as when the M1 has been closed and the roads gridlocked.
I've basically got this bike but the injection model (next year on), so same frame tank engine, brakes (i think) i cannot fault it, to think a nice one is 2 - 3 k My admiration grows for these things, for a 20 year old bike, it does everything brilliantly, its a damn sight more stable and maneuverable at higher speed than my S1000R.(On occasion the "commute" has turned into a BSS race..) and still comes up well after a blast with the hose to remove all the salt. Finally finished the "brown" R1 which included fitting some carbon frame protectors. The moment I finished it I just didn't feel excited to ride it so I've come home and written the advert and put it up for sale.
If I get the urge I might take down the advert and have a ride but can't feel myself doing it yet. Trouble is.. I have no idea what to replace it with!

Is all of that just to get it under 108db for BSB?If you look carefuly there is also a second can down by the rearset on the right hand side.

Must also resist urge to point out the idle adjuster lying on top of clutch cover should be on the other side of the bike clipped into its little bracket!

Ahhh that is where its meant to be! It doesn't have a bracket (presumably lost to the sands of time) so I just cable tied it somewhere accessible so it didn't flap around

That and the correct length for the rear pair of cylinders I'd guess.
It's not the first V4 to be used in BSB, so why such extreme measures?Obviously WSBK is a different kettle of fish where the limit is 115db
