Learnt something this morning. Don’t trust the low fuel light frown

Was very lucky with the location.

VERY lucky. You'd have been mincemeat if it conked out any further along. Did the RMS boys give you some fuel?

Thanks, yep, another 50m and I'd have been facing this at 7:45am rush hour:

Good job I opened it up down the slip road on approach, both to finish the fuel off and give me a decent roll!

Cops were driving past, no one was interested, had to call and join the NRMA. Who delivered $20 of fuel and had no change for my $50, so I just told him to have a few beers on me. Pricey commute.

brand new S1000RR ... chicken strips about 6 inches wide tottering around
He’s probably seen the utube vids of guys riding away from the dealers and binning it within sight of the salesman. I’m the biggest chicken ever with new rubber. I’ve found a suitable roundabout not too far away on an industrial estate that is ideal for cranking it over gradually. Both ways of course! It does the trick and gets that first 50 nervous miles over and done with in a lot less distance.
Yeah, cool starry bra! hehe

Didn't check the weather. Woke up to what I thought was a passing shower. Chucked the inner waterproof layer in my textile jacket but not bottoms.

Oh that was a bad idea.

Half hour blast down the motorway and I was rather soggy.

My cheapo army surplus over trousers just about got me in today but I may have to buy some proper textile trousers for the next few months. Still it reminded me why it's better to ride in the rain because everyone gets in the car and the traffic is much worse!

That was slippery ..... was doing ok until I nearly binned it on a metal road join (pic below) on the sliproad just after Westfield heading north the the A40, was not remotely 'on it' or particularly leant over or stiff, was on the gas so driving across rather than coasting and the front wheel did its best to slide away from me, really had to muscle it back up as it hit the far edge, was glad I was on the Multi with lots of leverage as reckon on a sportsbike I'd have been down ....

didnt notice yesterday, but they have resurfaced the junction before the tyne bridge

nice smooth tarmac now, rather than rutted stuff just where you want to filter biggrin

My commuting highlights recently - cycling and train weekly ticket into London wink I did finally get my a** in gear and got myself a new Gortex Jacket at least over the weekend - trying a Dainese Carve Master which was on offer at my local J&S and just about the perfect size allowing for liners and other layers for cooler weather riding. Trousers I'm still on the hunt for but my current pair still work, it was the jacket I needed the most as I had none with a working main zip before.
BTW I looked at the lovely Klim gortex pro gear they had but the size jacket I needed was up for £895!!! That was before I'd even looked at the trousers.
Given I'll no longer be daily/year round commuting any more I'm happy with a standard gortex jacket.

Tried the jacket yesterday liners out and vent zips open and it seems to work well to get some airflow in but back on the cycle/train commute for this week. I'm down about 8kg since moving currently.

All has been going fine for me recently, beyond one evening I pulled away having forgotten to take the disc lock off.....

Other news I’ve just had an adjudicators decision back re. A parking ticked from a suspended bay near bank, apparently the signage doesn’t have to follow the regulation...stangely we do...

There's one of those as you join onto the M4 from the A4042 from Cwmbran. Mid bend too, an absolute joy in the wet!

What is with GS riders? Trying to filter on a big bike with bikes sat behind them, they have chances to pull in & let people go past but no, they just carry on knowing full well people behind are getting p*ssed off.

New bike day for me on Sat, picking up a new Africa Twin Adventure Sports - cant wait.

Anyone want to buy a 99 Fireblade? laugh

Does my nut in, had a guy on a big harley do just this to me the other day for quite some distance, after a while of sitting behind him i gave it a few revs to make my presence known but i think he took offence by his hand gesture laugh

Enjoy! You'll never tire of the exhaust which you can enjoy in almost any gear, any revs! Likely take a while to adjust to filtering if been using a Fireblade - took me a month or two to get as confident and consistent as with my 125 CBR. But now I find it no problem.

You'll love it.

I was a GS rider, found some sports bikes couldn't keep up wink
