A picture a day....biker banter (Vol 3)
Discussion
It was a nice little taster, as intended, you have a brief briefing, noise test, then get taken out for two sighting laps before being let loose for the remains of the 20minute session. Doesn't sound a lot but its plenty for a taster IMO. I managed about six laps I think, after the two sighting ones, which was just enough for me to start getting comfortable. In some ways its good that it was stopped then as I could see me starting to push a bit and I can't afford to smash my nice K8 up
For £25 you can't argue though, and it's a cheap way to get a feel for the track if you've never been there/done a trackday before. I know the layout from many a car trackday so I could concentrate on using the cones and feeling some kind of line for the place. Great fun though, recommended!!
There was a real mixed bag of abilities too, I'm no Marquez but I was passing loads of them, which was good for the ego if nothing else. I did have one of the fastest bikes there mind..

Ooh just remembered you're the local fella (sure it was yourself who posted pics from Hunters?)

Or at least follow you through a tunnel, those Guzzi's sound
Yup, guilty as charged! And yes, sure you can Can I have go mister?

Also a picture albeit not bikey.
Not bad from a phone camera unedited!

Ah yes... about that. Essentially I got fed up with how many broken brackets and fixings there were and how much of a faff it was getting the panels on and off to work on it so I ripped them off and bunged them in the shed.
I want it to be a project bike yet I feel it's going to just become a rat bike
Also email me that wiring diagram/what you did with reg/rec would you please? I'll try my best to get BN to give you a kiss?
My reg/rec is on the way out!

i'll dig out the wiring diagram. essentially, i put a new uprated stator in mine, removed the stator plug and hardwired it to the reg/rec using bigger gauge wires (the three yellow ones) then spliced the live and earth out wires from the RR making 2 positives and 2 negatives. one set routes as normal (to a frame earth and the starter relay) and the other set goes to a different frame earth (any good one will do) and the battery positive. the one straight to the battery needs an inline 20a fuse, as does the starter solenoid (this has a 30a as standard).
the rc36 is a bloody tough old girl, i use mine far more than the blade or the supermomo, but the charging system as standard was a load of old ste.
anyway, i'll find the diagram and bung it up. if you want a bit of reading, google "vfrness". that's what i made.

Im real tempted to do one, well I really want to do a full track day but like you say I don't want to trash my bike. Sounds like you had a great time

Hi Barry, can you tell me where you picked up the Oulton Park deal from? Sounds ideal for a beginner like myself.

I was thinking of suggesting heading to hunters this Thursday but the weather looks iffy, would be nice to meet local bikey PH'ers for a quick nose at your machinery if nothing else.

Aye, next week instead hopefully. Where did you take the pic? Looks a nice spot. Also a picture albeit not bikey.

Ignore the numbers on the wires, they're gauges. The bottom left box is obviously the RR and the earth coming out is spliced to two independent earthing points but that's not shown in the diagram.
If you're going to upgrade your RR the mosfet ones from the r1 are a good choice. Also, check your white connector block for the stator to the rr.it sits on the offside of the bike, you can't miss it. Theyre usually a bit burnt.
