It overlooks Longleat, not sure of the name but it's a few minutes up the road from Shearwater.

Oh and thanks VF I'll try and sort it out asap!
Did you say you used a non honda reg/rec?
Yeah the standard honda flat resin block type ones get a little too hot. I got an aftermarket one off ebay with alloy cooling fins, but the best one apparently is the r1 RR. pretty much all 12v dc bike RRs are the same within reason anyway, it's only the plug that differentiates them. Theyve all got three power feed in wires, same colour and non specific (ie doesnt matter if you mix them up) then a pos and neg output (red and green).

If you hardwire the stator and remove the plug, do it properly either with solder or good quality crimps and heat shrink. They take quite a bit through them. That's the conection that starts to fail first which often leads to the rr packing up as well.

It was a nice little taster, as intended, you have a brief briefing, noise test, then get taken out for two sighting laps before being let loose for the remains of the 20minute session. Doesn't sound a lot but its plenty for a taster IMO. I managed about six laps I think, after the two sighting ones, which was just enough for me to start getting comfortable. In some ways its good that it was stopped then as I could see me starting to push a bit and I can't afford to smash my nice K8 up tongue out

For £25 you can't argue though, and it's a cheap way to get a feel for the track if you've never been there/done a trackday before. I know the layout from many a car trackday so I could concentrate on using the cones and feeling some kind of line for the place. Great fun though, recommended!!

There was a real mixed bag of abilities too, I'm no Marquez but I was passing loads of them, which was good for the ego if nothing else. I did have one of the fastest bikes there mind..

Hi Barry, can you tell me where you picked up the Oulton Park deal from? Sounds ideal for a beginner like myself.

I just happened upon it via Facebook I think, it's run by MSV themselves (presumably to get customer loyalty and future trackdays from us). Just check their page for your local track and it should appear in the calendar I suppose?

Worth doing for £25 though, bargain for effectively one session on track and potentially less worry about brake and tyre life smile

I've uploaded most of the session to YT, deliberately left the sighting laps in so it gives potentially interested parties a better idea of how the session works etc. Bear in mind its my first track effort, on touring Road Pilots and I'm trying to learn lines rather than be fast so please be gentle winkbiggrin

I was there briefly last night and I cannot understand these bikes and how they dream them up.
He even had his daughter (7yo?) perched on the back!

I asked if it was a little high and he said "She likes to see where we are going" hehe

Besides. Shouldn't it be "Riden by a mad bd"?

Great stuff, looks fun. Have had a hunt around and i think the remaining tasters are down at Brands Hatch unfortunately. I'll have to maybe get on the case early 2015 for Oulton Park.

Also the vid was it a Go pro you used? Not much wind noise, the sound is pretty decent!

Took a run from Inverness to Ullapool today. The weather sucked a bit, high winds and rain and there was road works so the bike is caked in st but it was totally worth it

On a related note I have been having a bit of grief with my visor steaming up even with the vents open (shark Speed R). Had to have the visor slightly open pretty much all the time.
I bought some Muc-off premium anti fog treatment.
It is excellent, I was sat in traffic with the visor and vents closed in cold weather and trying to get it to steam up and it wouldn't at all. It is expensive (£10 from halfrauds) for a wee bottle and you have to reapply it once a week but it's totally worth it.

No pinlock with your Speed R? Mine did, and it's excellent.

Yes
it came with a yellow one honestly I'm not a fan of it and I haven't gotten around to buying a clear one. Bought the muc-off stuff as a temporary fix until I buy another insert

Have you checked that it isn't a protective film on it?

Cheers. GoPro was running the sealed case, hence the annoying steaming up issue as time passed, and mounted on the front/side fairing with the clips (suction mounts not allowed). I think the duller sound from running a sealed back is preferable to the wind noise the open one would generate at higher speeds. Even I was seeing 120+ on the bigger straights and it was quite windy anyway.

I'd certainly keep an eye out for some spring deals at Oulton yeah, keep me informed if you see one I might be able to join you, or at least come along for moral support (I live local to the track anyway)! smile

That's a st. I'd start another thread with all the details in, it's worked before in reuniting owners and their stolen bikes.

So far I've lost a reg plate
a paddock bobbin
brake cap
various bolts
and almost a bar end and the side stand

the bike just keeps shedding things.

How?! I'd be going round it with a torque wrench... Or, anything!

That's a good price anyhow. I had to buy a new rear brake pedal this week and my only option was £66 from Triumph... Ouch.
