I’m still not sure bike life is for me but was nice only spending £8 at the petrol station! Just need to keep putting some rides in.
TBH I don't enjoy riding lots of bikes - really you need to pass your test and try a few bigger bikes, it's not just because of the speed they offer but the looks / feel / character

Agree. Bigger bikes make riding more relaxing and they are more stable.

Took my mum, aged 80 and recently widowed, for her first ever pillion trip. 30 mins around mix of motorway, b roads & lanes.

"Great fun" was the verdict.

Mega!

Something both of you will always remember.

Since putting the seat cowl on my bike it’s irritated me that the pillion foot pegs are still there despite no seat. The footpeg hangers are also exhaust hangers so you can’t just take them off. Given the bike is old no one makes exhaust hangers and I haven’t seen any options for standard bikes. I decided to buy some second hand hangers and cut off the footpeg part. I’m happy how they came out, can’t say I’m particularly good with an angle grinder or at painting.

This was how it started;

Footpeg bracket cut off

Both ground down and paint taken off

Primed

Painted

This is what the original looks like, the colour match is great.

After that I went for a ride, hangers will be fitted next week once the paint has had time to properly cure.

Glad you are enjoying it.

I imagine it still feels very quick when you get up in the revs?
It most certainly does! I won’t lie, I haven’t needed to go past 10k rpm yet, and it’s plenty quick.
When I’m more familiar with it, I’m excited to make it howl way up in the rev range!

Making the most of a sunny Easter Bank Holiday. A trip up the North Coast of NI, eventually to Portrush, beautiful! Weather now taking a turn for the worse..

200 miles done this weekend. Good to be back out again.

Conclusion, it's still a bit chilly!

Do you find that the 1000 is frustrating on the road as you can’t wind it open and just have to short shift the whole time? I love the look and concept of these but wonder if it would stop me enjoying the higher revs.

You can have a lot of fun keeping it in high revs in 2nd, upto 3rd on winding roads keeping it a gear lower than you normally would be. Equally, when relaxing it's effortless. Easily the best bike I've owned.

Interesting to hear….I can see me getting one once I have more experience.

I notice it can do 107 mph in first gear and top of 3rd is 138.

I watched the 44 teeth episode on the Panigale on track and it was going to 190mph with such ease when a 916 was getting 140’s.

They really are a special bike. Great choice.

I don't know if there's a flash for the '22 on model yet, but I'm sure there will be. biggrin

I changed the gearing on mine from 18/44 to 19/42. I may have lost a little in the standing quarter time (though the flash will have helped address that) but it does make things more relaxed at all normal road speeds. 5000rpm is 80mph (when aboard! wink ) It still "out stomps" pretty much everything else in whatever gear you want.
