Was that guy dawdling or was he riding fast in his mind?
mckeann said:
the dawdler said he had ran out of brake pads. I'm not really sure why that means he can only do 50mph on the racing line, but it gave me a fair fright
What a tt and anyone who can ride a bike knows you can survive faded pads easy enough with the throttle better than he did. the dawdler was actually a very fast kid on a 600 in all the other sessions, not sure what he was thinking there though.
When you come out of that right hander, you are hard on the throttle and the track goes over a crest and drops away, which means the front end is very light, and you need to sweep right, before you can steer to the left. Maybe he thought he was out of the way, i dont know, he didnt seem that bothered.

Then there's no excuse at all for what he was doing. He looked like a novice amd his lifesaver after you buzzed him didn't inspire confidence either. What's the etiquette then.
I had a problem with my brakes on Sunday.
I was short shifting and off line when I could but i was at 2/3 rds pace till I got back to the pits with loads of notice I was coming in and taking a wide line on the last corner clearly indicating I was coming in.
Should I pull over? Or is this right?

Offline is the way ahead. Trouble is when there are blind crests that restrict vision (like there and most of KH)I had a problem with my brakes on Sunday.

I think he was probably unaware that where he was, was online for a quick thou. On a 600 you don't need to go that far over.
Also, speed differential is the biggy. If he was going faster, then it wouldn't be such an issue. He could easily have been doing 90mph there and still have plenty of room to stop at the end even with just the back brake

Keep a look behind you before corners to make sure anyone coming upon you has seen your indication.
But stay offline as much as possible and maintain your line, DON'T wander around or across the track

Tang last bit is what I meant about using the throttle to get out of the way. You don't need to trundle along at 50 on a straight as there loads of time to scrub speed even without a front brake I think he was probably unaware that where he was, was online for a quick thou. Suppose depends on the track.
Can someone explain this while I'm here.
I went out session one behind the safety car thing and all of a sudden my lever is pulling all the way to my bars.
I come in adjust then out on track it's solid with no feel.
I MucK about with range for a while
Behind the pace car it's solid with no feel once I get a few laps the lever has they play I'm looking for with plenty of bite.
It's race only pads I'm using and it was brand new brake discs with fresh seals that were rebuilt a track day ago.
Is this just a case of the pads need heat in them to work and behind the car I couldn't get the heat into them.
Or should I bleed the system incase there is air or the fluid is off.

I'm still doing a decent corner speed as I don't need brakes for that.
scary. wouldnt want to think about clipping someone at that speed.
What do you guys think about this video.
I know spike edwards is a very fast well respected guy but he seems to have a problem with the lad on the 600 infront.
its obvious the lad has some riding skills that can be admired.
would you be annoyed? does it have a place on a trackday?
personally i think its bloody impressive and it wouldnt effect me anyway as id never see him.

Spikes not flat out, but is pushing on a bit. His problem is around 1 min where the lad locks up right in front of him, when Spike is going to carry a lot more corner speed and has to hit the brakes a bit harder because of it. Nothing to worry about, but like he says locking your rear is only going to kill the tyre. What do you guys think about this video.
