Party pooper"^^^^^^^^

Tim has won the BB picture of the year as far as I am concerned, that's a lean angle Marc Marquez would be proud of.

Tim, is that a phone photo of your screen??? You need to do a proper screen grab and post that as It's not the sharpest

Survived the 4 days without killing my road bike which I'm glad about.
Gonna get a decent screengrab when I get back just got two days enduro around Malaga. Can't complain with a holiday like this.
Elbow down felt surprisingly easy. The horseshoe left at almeria is perfect for it. Drift wide then just balance slowly rolling on with adding more lean and Just exaggerate your top half and it touched. Probably never do it again but I've got the photo to remember at least. I wasnt fast though but at least the picture makes it look that way.
Can't recommend track sense and almeria enough.

Definitely one for the memories! I have a few like that (not elbow done ones)

What company are you going malaga with? I went this time last year. Brilliant time!

I'm keeping off the enduro bikes and doing Almeria in 3 weeks

Was full at cadwell Sunday! - surprised people from here weren't there. Someone got this picture of me and put on fb which I thought was good

Started off very cold and wet. First session wets were needed but I couldn't be bothered to switch so just cruised round as I needed to make sure bike was ok since its rebuild

Second session still wet but had a thin dry line starting to form in a few places

Third session thin dry line round the whole track but you definitely didn't want to make a mistake and come off this dry line!

After that it was pretty much ok but the section where the trees are (forget the name) stayed a touch damp most the day

Was my second time there and was a bit slower with 1.41s but I put it down to the cold and damp

Just done day 1 with off-road orange and got another tomorrow. Pretty knakering stuff!
Almeria is awesome. Probably one of my favourite tracks once you learn it. Very flowing but watch out for that chicane the first time it's tighter than it looks on approach

Mugello..

..Was a surprise for my 50th Birthday. I sort of knew a few weeks before I was going there but had no idea who else was going apart from my mate with the other yellow R1.

We had a couple of days extra in Italy before the TD so I thought Mrs Nemesis was just wanting to get sunburnt or something like that.

We got into Pisa around 8pm, picked the hire car up and headed to our Hotel, I was told not to get drunk as we had to be up early next morning, she wouldn't say why so I only had 5 pints before bed.

Next morning at breakfast she sets the sat nav (dunno where she learnt to do that) and off we went. We ended up here..

The Ducati Factory official factory tour, spent an enjoyable hour being showed around the factory, standing right next to engine internals, full engines, forks, wheels, nuts bolts, you name it. Had a look through the race department door window (couldn't see anything) then watched a worker take a Paingale off the line and give it its first run off life on a Dyno, I wouldn't bother about not revving your new Ducati after picking it from a dealers. hehe

Had a look around their museum which was great. Well worth a visit.

Came out of there then the Mrs sets the sat nav again and off we go (she was telling me which way to go and had it turned so I couldn't see it).

Anyway, we ended up here...

Tavullia.

We stayed at a B&B right next too the Rossi fan club/Pizza place. I ate Pizza and got drunk, joined the fan club, bought a hat, T shirt etc.

Next morning we headed off to the TD hotel, had a great drive up a deserted mountain road and an even scarier down the other side (according to the Mrs)

weather was baking hot still for another hour or so until the rain started... Still had no idea who was turning up until a mate turned up with his wife, it was about then that McKean sent a message after seeing a FB status asking if I was doing a TD at Mugello, I said yes and he says thanks for the invite ya wker. I had seen that he was supposedly still at work so assumed that he was there until he comes walking over, great surprise to see the big fella, Mckeans mate and Mrs also turned up but didn't see the others until breakfast the next morning due to them bursting a tyre in their mini-bus on their way back to the Hotel after unloading the bikes at the track.

Breakfast next morning there was a table full of my mates. I was a bit overwhelmed and was stuck for words (for once) It was still raining very hard as we headed off to the track. To cut a long story short it didn't stop all day so we buggered off around 1pm and got pissed.

Pictures from the first day.

Me.

Paul

Second day started wet, McKean, Paul and Ben were out on their wets until it started to dry around 11am, me and Aky went out with new front slicks and worn rears, Aky got stopped and turned back for some reason, I did half a lap and came in as the track was still wet.

Next session I went out for my first run of the trip half way through it and wobbled my way around convinced I was going to die with people passing on wets like I was going backwards.

Next session it was pretty much dry. Same for my next 2 and final sessions. On the last session of the day there had been a shower 30 minutes before we went out but according to others it was dry again so off I went to get a time in to make sure I stayed in the A group. (they were updating every session as far as I could see.

Mckean wisely warned me about keeping off the kerbs this session as they would still be wet, I could feel the back of my bike moving around a lot when I was changing down the box which seemed strange as it was ok the previous session.. Anyway, brap, brap, brap, flat out down the long straight, little wheelie over the crest, back end slewing around on the brakes into the first corner, me feeling a little anxious, up too the Right about to go left/right and there's Yellow flags and oil flags being waved, spot my mates Yellow r1 in the Gravel and think fk this so pull in half way around the lap.

He was OK, bike just needs new bodywork. That was the last session so we all gather later on and to everyones merriment I have been moved down from the racers group by being 2 tenths too slow. I was still 3 seconds a lap slower than I was on my old 04 R1 which made my mood even blacker grumpyhehe

McKean was on fire and finished up being 2nd, I'm sure he would have been top given a little bit more time.

We all went out that night and I ended up in a strop (being demoted) so decided I was gonna walk back to the hotel from the bar we were in so McKean kindly gave me a lift back then brought the Mrs back too.

I wasn't really in a strop...yes

The last day was only a half day and it rained in the morning so that was that for this trip. Everyone headed off home but myself and the Mrs had an extra couple of days to kill so we booked into a Hotel just outside of the Pisa tower wall and spent that time getting drunk (me) and eating good food.

Thanks too everyone who made this a special trip despite the weather.

Great report John - really glad you had such a good bunch of your mates there with you having a great time despite the obvious weather challenge, would love to have joined you too, a fantastic way for you to have celebrated your 50th with the Mrs . and all your boys around you , there, especially!
Better weather ahead next time , I hope - and I'll be there !

the weather was ste, but the banter was good. At least you know you had some time in you if you had fitted new tyres. I'm borrowing that excuse too by the way
