Thanks very much everyone, I really appreciate all your kind words. It might seem like nothing to you guys, but there’s been times when people posting on here have literally kept me going. I’ve had some real “low” times over the last couple of years, but fortunately, a few years ago, I developed work-related PTSD and had a full on meltdown. Fortunately, the wonderful NHS sorted me out then and one of the benefits was that I ended up with an immeasurably better insight into how the inside of my head works, so I ended up being better able to cope with everything the last couple of years has thrown at me.
I didn’t manage to get a photo of today’s X-rays, but rest assured, I’ll be posting photos of my (hopefully) “soon”(ish) frame free leg (sans knackers).

Glad we helped, even in some small way and if the thought hasn't crossed your mind yet, marry that woman, she's a keeper.I didn’t manage to get a photo of today’s X-rays, but rest assured, I’ll be posting photos of my (hopefully) “soon”(ish) frame free leg (sans knackers).

Next thing you know when you're back on two wheels you'll be wearing arseless chaps and flashing your knarly scars (and squished knackers) at the world!

I’m a style icon. What else can I say?
There’s not much choice in clothing for us “frame wearers”. Anything commercially available tends to be beige elasticated and contain absolutely no natural fibres, whatsoever! I did actually loo, for some “poppers”, but they’re not really a look I can pull off. I have got some Canterbury brand tracky bottoms with full length zips, but I got a few pairs of jeans altered with the zips as they’re a bit more “pub appropriate”.
Boom!
Well, the next “big step” (ho, ho, ho - it’s a gift) to getting better has been taken. It’s not over yet, by a long chalk, but finally getting rid of the frame feels like a HUGE milestone. There’s a fair old chunk of rehab and physio still to come. Yay. I simply LOVE exercise, in all its shapes and forms...
I saw the consultant and the registrar once I was out of recovery and back on the ward. They are both happy with how everything has gone. I’m going to have a follow up visit in a couple of weeks and the clips (70-odd, apparently) will be removed then. I’ve already got my next physio session booked for a fortnight today. Ace. I literally cannot wait... The slight downside is that I revert to “toe touch” weight bearing for six weeks or so. After almost two and a half years, I reckon I can deal with that.
You will no doubt be delighted/disappointed/repulsed/nauseous that the only photo so far doesn’t really show much, other the absence of the scaffolding, but that’ll do me for now! I’m not sure how much “flesh” has been taken to tidy up my leg/reduce the scarring but don’t worry, as soon as possible I’ll be publishing more “graphic” pictures for all of you who enjoy that sort of filth.

This is superb.
You have been on a very long journey and have handled it without a trace of self pity. I do understand that there is more to come, but it is so encouraging to see progress. Given your very clear will to rehabilitate yourself I feel that you will make a good recovery.
I do regret that your application to the Bolshoi Ballet is in danger, however.
