Just back from a superb weekend at Portimao with PaceDayz. As Fleegle predicted, it rained (see below) but between the wet bits we had some cracking dry time (I spent the first day with Peter Hickman getting used to the lines and him ripping apart my dog st technique - it was time and money well-spent).
One positive of the weather was that I was able to pop my cherry on full wet tyres. I know you folks that regularly use them will already know this but Christ, phenomenal levels of grip.
Really well run weekend by PaceDayz, very few folks out on track as they only have 90 in total and due to the weather, any wet sessions were turned into open pit-lane which gave anyone with wets / inters loads of track time.
I'm still a fan of No Limits but wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use PaceDayz again.
Not looking forward to stripping and cleaning the bike (it's filthy) but not likely to be out again before next summer due to home and work commitments so needs must. Small price to pay for some quality memories.
Where's my Jet-ski..

Looks good. Warm rain. One positive of the weather was that I was able to pop my cherry on full wet tyres. I know you folks that regularly use them will already know this but Christ, phenomenal levels of grip.

Talking of weather , tad of early morning frost creeping in now - don't forget guys n gals , if you have race / track bikes dotted around with pure water in them in unheated premises , time soon to at least drop the fluid or ( preferably ) throw and mix some antifreeze in ..... just an early reminder .....

Well remembered. I always panic in about 2 weeks time. Thankfully this year, I know it's anti freeze as I got it flushed this summer Birky_41 said:
Just see Brand and Cadwell for £69 November and December open pit lane with MSV
Obviously I'd book as late as poss given the weather but if it looked dry (all be cold) in the last few days upto it would anyone else fancy?
I will have sold my track bike by then and working on my newer one for next year so would probably do it on the road bike
I've booked Cadwell! Had good days at Cadwell in November in past years. Obviously I'd book as late as poss given the weather but if it looked dry (all be cold) in the last few days upto it would anyone else fancy?

Hi All,
Sorry slightly OT but felt you guys on this thread would be best placed to answer given your experience and is still very much track related!
I'm looking in to starting track riding next year (no interest in riding on the road), but bar doing my CBT and riding two stroke 125's for a bit 7 odd years ago my riding experience is limited! I'm planning on attending Ron Haslams race school to begin with aboard a CBR300 in order to get to grips with riding again and soak up everything they can teach me, and from that move to hiring a bike on general track days, Smallboy trackbikes look to have a KTM RC390 which would fit the bill perfectly, and I'd go on a No Limits non MSV days to get round the lack of license and build up from there, picking up my ACU to free up my options circuit wise once I get more into it.
Does this sound like a sensible route to you guys? I can't find anyone else geared up for taking on total bike novices like Ron Haslams school, but also can't find much from anyone else doing what I'm planning to do!
Appreciate any advice..

Yep sounds like you got it well planned out. I only started this year doing track days. Its easy enough to get the hang of, just depends what your bike experience is like. Mine was zilch on track but lots of years mx which helpedSorry slightly OT but felt you guys on this thread would be best placed to answer given your experience and is still very much track related!

What's the cumulative cost of a euro trackday?
Aside from the flights and cost of the trip from the TD company
My costs for going to Almeria next month are:Aside from the flights and cost of the trip from the TD company
Trackday - £479
Flights - £80
Tyres - £680
Insurance - £15
Fuel when I'm there - ~£150
Transport (Manchester pick up / collection - £114
Total: £1518
Obviously can be done for less as the majority of the money is on tyres. Also there's general spending money when I'm there.
