The second bike through on that YT link I posted is Dean Harrison (I think?).

You can hear the traction control kicking in (popping as the ignition cuts). Not a hint of him backing off though, obviously.

I think all the front runners are flat through there?

I believe so, yes, but I remember reading Hickman saying it takes him the full practice week to build up to flat in 6th through it.

Is there more racing or is it finished for the year?
Last day was supposed to be Friday of race week, but spilled into Sat because of weather. So yes, it's all over for another year. I'll be back over for Southern 100 and MGP though.
If you have never seen it, the Southern 100 is worth a watch. Similar track, some of the same racers but a mass start. Shorter lap, but still incredibly exciting.

The BBC usually has some Irish Road racing on the Iplayer, try https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b00kj9xh/bi... .

184 was mentioned with that picture on FB.

Balls the size of spacehoppers.
Given he was in a situation the rear hanging out I’m guessing the only option then is Wide open throttle / pin it to get back in control whereas easing off the throttle would cause a possible high side and simply holding /trailing throttle would be risky too.
Basically too hot going in / utterly committed
Um, it’s not going in to hot, he is deliberately spinning the rear to help the bike turn…..

Conversely have any TT winners moved to MOTO GP/other bike competitions and in those competitions been at the sharpe end of the racing pack/highly competitive or are road racers skills quite different to track racers?
Some bloke called Foggy did alright in World Super Bikes after his 26 TT starts.
Hizzy lapped Donnington faster on his heavier superbike than a grand Prix bike back in the day.

Roger Burnett won the Senior TT in 1986 and went on to be a Factory Honda Rider in 500cc GP’s (previous to MOTOGP).

Moreover Rob McElnea won the 2 big races in 1984 and went on to be a Factory 500cc Rider for Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda.

Has anyone mentioned Agostini or Hailwood yet?

Or Haslam? Admittedly not an Agostini or Hailwood but he won at the TT and was a pretty successful factory GP rider in the 80s

Or every GP rider until c.1970...

And the Mountain Circuit wasn't the only "road" course.

Because they choose not to .
I wonder if their contracts prevent them from doing so - Or the purse for winning/taking part is below their expectations.
I suspect both. Rossi went there a few years ago as a spectator and said he wouldn’t do it for any money.

Probably brookes and hickman have done well in bsb and tt.
That's why I am a huge Hicky fan!

B*lls to the wall on the TT and some decent results in BSB.

Shame about Rossi's reluctance - proper Italian legends like Ago did the TT and circuits!

So drifting a bike with a solid stone wall feet away….

Out of interest any idea of the possible speed he was doing at that point?
That is flat and has been since ballagarey and he will continue pinned throttle up over Crosby leap. Only the top boys keep it pinned on the big bikes, most of the rest back off a bit.

I would say 170 ish on the big bikes.

I know that bit of road pretty well, my house is just out of shot

No. Unless you count Foggy who was very successful at selected GP’s, it was Roger Burnett who won the Senior TT in 1986 and then went on to having a full time factory ride in GP’s with Rothmans Honda.

For anyone that didn't try it, £14.99 for TT+ for the full 2 weeks was worth every penny in my opinion. They did a fantastic job providing live coverage of all qualifying, races, rider insights, etc., etc.

I thought they'd struggle to cover such a long course, over nearly 2 hours of racing in some cases, but they did it.
Still some teething issues that I hope they fix for next year, one big one being that commentary is always reacting to the same pictures we are, so there's a good second or so delay after the thing they are talking about has happened. Not good for live commentary. And the reporters/interviewers didn't really seem ready for live TV, but that will come with practice.

Also, a side note. I am both surprised and glad that we did not see a fatal accident live. Considering they had a lot of cameras and the live nature of the broadcast. Whether they had a mechanism in place to be able to stop that (such as delayed broadcasting) I don't know.
