I've been chain sawing for the last week, a few trees down and a chicken coup up in the garden, apparently its all the rage according to my missis rolleyes Seriously since my gardener mate told me most chain saw deaths are due to the chain snapping and slinging its hook from the machine towards your neck I have serious arse clench problems .

The bike is safe a fair distance from the chain saw so that's one bonus.

Young looking Pat back in 1995.

The bike is a 1968 Rickman Metisse frame with 1978 750 Bonnie motor and forks.

Bought as a basket case for £1200. Had just been run up the lane for the first time and still awaiting headlamp and the exhaust hanger.

MY RVF400. One of the last made, which I bought a couple of years ago as Xmas present to myself, knowing these would rise in value (no plans to ever sell it). Drove a 1,000km round trip to collect it, here in Japan.

As I had them sitting around in boxes, I added a pair of Dymag Carbon rims (5.5" rear with some hub modification, to fit), carbon Magical Racing wide-angle mirrors, Tyga triple top mount and hugger and some titanium fasteners, plus an RCS19 Brembo master cylinder and 4-Piston calipers with Braketech discs of ductile Iron.
The bike came with an HRC igniter (for higher rev limit of 13,500 & no speed limiter) and the exhaust, as well as the original parts - and aside from a few bodywork blemishes that I repaired at home, it was just about perfect. Only 60 bhp, but a plenty capable little bike that makes you feel like a racer, when keeping it pinned (on an HRC quick-throttle).

Great fun and is one of the most beautiful little bikes. ..I seem to have a thing for gear-driven cam Hondas.

For higher speed, or longer distance riding fun, I use my modified VTR SP2, Husky SMR450 motard and several other modern classic 2-stroke bikes of the 90's, etc.

That is absolutely mint. What a top bike.

Ah that jacket - I'd painted my Norton Commando white and blue...because I liked blue and white. When I got the pennies together to buy my first black leather jacket (I'd been wearing a nylon jacket to that point) I went up to Ernie Page's motorcycle shop in Edinburgh...and there hanging in the window was this blue and white jacket. Ideas of black just went out the window to get the matching jacket/bike combo! But it remained my bike jacket long after the Commando had gone. I noticed one of the guys on 'The Bike Show' on satellite had the same jacket on - maybe it's a collectors item now!

Matching bike and jacket...and flares, from '75.
Bloody hell, you weren't playing at it were you? smile

Tywyn I see, over the road from the Slipway pub. Love it down there. Shame the Tonfanau races have had to be canceled this year. Great day out always, everyone really friendly, and always a hero to meet John McGuinness Charlie Williams Stan Woods etc.

I would guess half way between Bealach na Ba and Sheildaig on the coast road as there’s often heilan’ coos at the side of the road (or in the road) there?

P.S.

I'm up at Peterborough tomorrow, if you live that way I'd happily do a wheelie on the RD, its 31 years since I owned mine.
Always bloody moaning aint ya?!biggrin

Thank you for offering to wheelie it, im almost disappointed I read this to late John...!

Dragged this magnificent, underrated marvel of Czech engineering out of the shed.

It's not been on the road for 30 years.

I walked round it, searching for inspiration.

But found none.

So dragged it back into the shed.

I'm surprised more of these didn't get snapped up as a means to building a cheap caff. Bones and lines are there to make a pretty reasonable one cheaply.

THE worst motorcycle I have ever ridden...for that reason and the fact its a stroker, id have one!

Looks very tidy, im guessing it will stay that way now as well!
