Which is yours? The one on the left or the right?
It would have to be the water, I don't drink or eat anything with the word diet on it.

What a difference 11.5 months makes.

Breaking it for parts, I had made the decision a while ago but felt 100% happy about my decision once I found a crack in the frame!
Where the rear shock linkage mounts on the frame side, one of 2 pieces is cracked through!

I'll get some pictures next time I'm up my unit. Breaking a bike is never a nice thing though frown

That's more proactive than me! I only take something off when I've sold it!

hehe

I must admit I have been great at taking pictures, cleaning bits up etc but when it comes to writing adverts for auction sites I simply lose the will to live!

I even resorted to attempting to sell on facebook groups... it's bloody hard work!

I'm pretty sure it didn't, it could have been weakened but I didn't notice a crack when I fitted my rebuilt rear shock which was post accident (sometime around April last year, crashed in March). I cleaned the area up as well before fitting but didn't see it... that's not to say it wasn't there.

Considering how I rode that bike I'm bloody glad it was off the road in bits when I noticed, the other way doesn't bear thinking about!

Alloy frames are relatively brittle. You might well have had a small hairline crack (or even a just a nick, it doesn't take much to start) on the frame after the accident that's grown through vibration and flexing forces.

Exactly, it could have been there but I wasn't looking for a crack/degredation or anything similar so could have been easily missed.

I'm starting to wonder if it's why I started thinking my rear shock had gone again in such a short space of time, the reason I didn't investigate further is the chap who rebuilt it told me that it was a risk rebuilding my type of shock for one reason on another (I forget why) and it could need re-gassing in the future if it went soggy.

The '1290' in big writing on the tail might help with that question.

Unless it's since sold, I think that un-cut rear mudguard should be put away to be treated as a future investment.

Fantastic. You can get it covered in road salt and crud even while you're not riding it!

Did you look at getting it repaired, I would of took it to a fab shop and got them to do a crack/weld test and the see if they could reweld if it was not to bad.
