Ahhhh
The smell of two stroke oil, the habitual riding with fingers over the clutch lever, the knife edge power bands and complete absence of torque, the crisp zing of the expansion chamber(s)
Some old ones (at 16 unrestricted 50 cc's were the mutts nuts)
Only 80cc but loads of fun (only brand new bike I've ever owned)
200 cc peanuts after the 250 down to 125 learner law came into effect
And I really must dig all the parts out of the loft for this one and put it back together
Had a few other smokers but can't find any pics

I appear to be a habitual parts collector for it - it's been back together twice once in the colours above and then with a later MKIII full bodywork (to hide the obvious heart transplant) in pepsi colours. Was a bit more of a sleeper then as the std Gamma engine couldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding. It had Stan Stevens own fabricated expansion chambers slightly cut and shut to fit nice under the MKIII bodywork as well as the usual obvious tried and tested tuning modificationsHowever I found an excuse to take it apart again - piston ring breaking and doing it's best to ruin head and barrel.
So an engine rebuild was added to the list of things to do - the frame needed a refurb so did the wheels - I would have sourced another engine but they go for silly money these days

It seems 16 year olds were the same back then (Just less chavvy..)! Only thing that is different now is that all the 2 smoke 50's are st and the good ones are too much or rare. Great pictures.

God that takes me back. Had one of those when i was 16. I had an MT50 round the field for a few years before, but the AR was my first road bike. I adored it!We lived out in the fens so it was my only transport unless begging parents. I once did Spalding to Kettering to visit family. Took absolutely ages. Occasional +5mph tow from an overtaking van/lorry. Got there having not bothered ringing ahead to be told they were heading out....v sorry. Took another few hrs to get home. A wasted day. Bike still ruled though!
Used it through winter to get to my factory saturday job 30 miles away. No heated grips and no proper kit. Used to stand in front of the industrial heaters once i got there to thaw out. Still loved the bike though!
I thought I would resurrect this old thread as an excuse to show off the new exhaust I've just had fitted to the CRM. Sorry about the poor quality picture, my phone camera is crap. Its just had a new clutch, exhaust and the rear shock rebuilt. I just put it back together again today. Just in time for a bit of Christmas green laneing.
