I've had to put my Le mans trip back a day as I went to check my pressures and both my tyres are completely ruined. 1600 miles and 600 of those were in the wet. I've never had a tyre ruin so quickly. They were Dunlop sportsmax so not even sporty tyres. I didn't even check as It didn't even cross my mind that they'd be anywhere near gone in that short of space. It trumps my 3 k miles on sportsmarts. Getting some m7s fitted first thing in the morning after this thread so hopefully they'll still be usable after a 1700 mile round trip over the weekend.

Massively confidence inspiring and very quick warm-up and far preferable, for me anyway, to Rosso Corsa everywhere, certainly the way I have my S1000 set up.
Just for interests sake, they are preferable to DRCs because you find them more confidence inspiring?

I thought Metzelers and Pirelli were all made in the same factory anyway?

I prefer them . Simple as that .
Just like I prefer Dunlop KR slicks to Dunlop GP211 or Gp212s... All most probably made in same factory for what it's worth ....

DRC is Diablo Rosso Corsa - fast road tyre. Been out a few years, but still walks fast road/occasional trackday tyre group tests for dry feel and grip. Fabulous tyre with so much grip on the road and a nice profile. I really don't understand anyone running Supercorsas on the road when DRCs exist.
100% This^^^

I'm getting the worn Supercorsas off the Aprilia today and fitting Diablo Rosso Corsas front and rear. Bike came with the Super C's as standard and I've replaced with same from tyres 1199 riders took off when fitting track tyres, but it's not such a nice road tyre as the DRC. The Ape just doesn't do any track duties so no point in the Super C's especially as the morning temps are getting quite chilly and the Super C feels like a block of wood at 6am.
210 quid for both fitted to the bike...

Me and my brother use the M7RR on the trackbike.
While I tootle around finding my feet, he runs pretty quick in the inters and the tyres are fantastic in my opinion.
Even on the wet day at Anglesey they never ever give you any worrying moments.

I've booked in for some M7RRs on the newly aquired KTM RC8 tomorrow.

Currently got dunlop sportmax/smarts 2s on, which seem pretty good when they are hot but the rear is due and a fancy a change.
Hopefully these new M7s live up to the hype biggrin

Nope went a different direction biggrin Picked up the KTM as a summer road bike and will buy some track fairings for it and spare wheels and use that on track when I get a chance, but have resisted buying a dedicated track tool.

The blade is back as good as new after a wee polish too.

I see you've done a few more trackdays since oulton.

Can confirm, good tyres.

Only took a few miles to scrub in, not slippery at all out of the packet. Seems like a far more durable compound than the dunlop sportsmarts they are replacing but offered just as much grip.

Warm up instantly, great profile rolls side to side very smoothly and predictably.

I'm happy, will like to see how they fair on track for what seems to be a fantatsic road tyre.

Interesting question as I just bought a set for my S 1000 R! I went back to the Metzeler site and they show the 120/70 (M) as being correct. But they also don't show a 120/70 without an M.

Not sure what it means but I looked at the details for the Roadtec and in 120/70 they have M and O and other specifications. Seems to be different compounds for specific bikes (the M being for all brands).

A bit confusing.

Reading the blurb it seems that they have translated from German to English using Google translate. Probably makes more sense if you read in a German accent (a la Clarkson).....

Some will say no ( probably most ), some will say yes..... Although it's not strictly recommended .... If you don't tell either one about the other , they'll never know.....
Seriously, you won't just fall off and if you don't ask too much of them in standing water ( old adage goes about uniform water dispersal tread patterns...) they will be fine .
It's not like running a slick with a knobbly....however , I await the corrections from above ....;)

I asked this question myself a week or so ago. If you search you should find the thread. Got mixed responses. I think majority opinion was as long as similar type of tyre don't worry.

Personally I decided to change both. Yes a bit extra but I think that the tyres are probably the most important part of the bike as they are the bit keeping you butter side up so perhaps not the best area to save pennies. Of course if I had to count the pennies a bit more I might be more flexible!

Just a quick update on the DRC's...

STUPENDOUS!!
Went out today, high speeds (170mph+),high speed sweepers and they felt fantastic. Warmed up to the point you couldn't touch them, and felt like a really nice profile. Not too quick to drop in but really stable at speed and able to change direction at 150+
Highly recommended......

Would be interested to know when they arrive whether there are in fact "M" spec (and there is a mistake on the Openeo website) or whether the tyres actually come in M and non-M (whatever it means!)

Yes, done 4 so far, not sure when the next one is though, maybe Oulton next week!

According to the Metzeler website there is only an (M) variant in that size. Maybe the tyre hasn't changed and there was only ever one variant but they changed the labelling?
