Almeria is supposed to be the driest place in Europe, although when I was there back in 2016, it rained hard for both days we had on the circuit, and I know others that have had their share of wet days there too.
This is from my trip in 2016, and as barely anyone took wets with them, they made it open pit lane, so I'd get about a million laps a day in doing tank after tank of Fuel, which was fun

Ah so you've got One, nice.

There's someone from the lakes got an allocation from my local dealers.

I was thinking about chopping mine in for one but apparently there's no chance of getting one.
Isn't that a regular R1 that's been converted for track rather than an anniversary model or that GYTR one?

Silver engine = 2015 or 2016 Euro 3 compliant model rather than the 2017 onwards black engine and it's more painful ECU.
I dunno Jon, I thought I saw a post where Mr 4130 said he was getting GYTR. I just assumed that was it.

I'd quite like to have one. (if I was rich)

The offer was 60 Euros! Same thing soon I suppose.

Where've you booked for next year Neil? Half of my group have retired and the other half in some sort of mid Winter dormant family mode!
I’ve not got anything booked as yet. In a bit of a bike huff at the moment. Need to get my finger out as lots sold out already. What do you fancy??

SlovakiaRing at end of July is looking okay for 3 of us so far. Will hopefully book end of January when a bit more confident of job / income.

Bit vague after that. Might do Assen in Sept. Might do Spa in August if I cancel pre-booked music festival / risk divorce. Might just pootle down to the coast with the girl on the back like a normal person. Might sell everything and sit on a beach in Goa again!

I do believe that is the case. The tank extension is CRC fairings if I remember right?

Still...I want it!

My pockets aren't deep enough for a £35k GYTR model, so it's an older bike converted to a race bike just painted up in the anniversary colours.
It's quite a trick bike already with full YEC loom/ecu, blueprinted engine etc and all the latest motorsport software as it was a BSB stock 1000 bike built by CFM in the Midlands.
The exhaust is way too loud, so it's off to MSS on Wednesday for a Spark Exhaust and a few other bits and bobs (L74 quick change kit, PFM thumb brake etc)
As much as I quite like the colours, I took the bike up to CFM just before christmas for the latest software update and a general check over, and picked up a full set of unpainted fairings that are off at the moment getting painted up in my colours, so the ones on there will get boxed up and kept as spares. The paint job on them is actually way to good to use on the track (It's something like a £1000 paint job) and has all sorts of pearlescent and perfectly matched lines with lacquered graphics, and I'd feel a bit guilty launching it into the back of my van with wheels etc stacked on top of it

Anyone want to buy a really nice spec 2016 ZX10R ?

A tip on R1's of that age is to remove the nut and bolt that holds the back of the mudguard on and includes the little brake line bracket and replace it with a cable tie. Easier with the wheel out.

It stops the tyre warmer snagging on the nut / end of bolt. It was generally part of my ritual when track prepping mine and the torn sides of the front warmer a sign I'd forgotten once or twice.
Mint cheers for that! Handy to know, I'll do that once I get a spare front mudguard sorted

Not exactly a trackday, but I spent the day in the freezing cold at Kinsham Raceway (The Track in Chaz Davis' parents garden) messing around on pit bikes with my 12 year old son.

It hovered around 1-2deg, and you couldn't feel your hands after about 10 mins, which hurt like crap when I tucked the front and bent my thumb back, but still, a day on the bike is a day on the bike
We're making the most of what's left of the school holidays and heading to Wilton Mill circuit bike day on Friday

cool I go most bank holiday mondays .. .. cos its 90mins from me and the traffic is lighter .....but its the nearest decent place.

actually I bought danny kents crf actually (he used when he won moto3 that year ...perhaps he shouldnt have sold it ! ) ...and absolutely love it

its a long way to go if they have that mist on the track and have to keep the doors closed - and then the fumes aren't so good

but always fun to do a million laps round there and mix with the stars !

Ah, I've probably seen you up there at some point. They run Saturday nights at M4 Karting one junction down the M4 too, which is OK, but gets busy
Yeah, I think Danny should've hung onto the CRF as he's without a job now. He's got a bambino 140 for pit biking on now though

James (glos bike salvage) did mention it too me ... he said the surface was a little less forgiving plus it used to be a weds night ... but if that is a saturday night then I will have a look at that .. .thanks for the tip

Dont blame you one bit. Im taking my boy out sunday for some mx and currently 50/50 deciding to pull my old kit out and have a go. My mind is willing but the body isn't.

Will only be a CRF250 but these new ones dont half go bad for a small bike when you keep them singing

You'll love it. The Ducati days tend to be a lot better mannered and more sedate than typical track days too, so you're in a nice safe environment to have a go.
I might try and blag a bike from Ducati UK for the day and get along to one of them, probably Silverstone as DUK are based there

It's a decent enough surface in there, but it's a bit hit and miss for grip levels. Unlike Swindon Karting which is Tarmac, it's a smooth concrete slab, so the grip is created by a sheen of Oil (actually quite grippy if applied correctly) and the subsequent rubber that sticks to it. In the summer, it's decent, but in the winter it's reliant on there not being much temperature change as that attracts condensation and makes it like ice.
When it's really grippy, it's unbelievable, but when it's a bit slippy, it's crap

Graeme, you may well struggle, last year they had people queuing up for bikes and had pre-sold all the rentals well in advance, this year is going the same way ....
