Bought a very cheap CBR600 F3 locally this week, it's only done 28000 miles and 3000 of those were in the last 10 years.
I spent about 5 hours today just using stuff I already had in the garage. Started by jet washing it, then de-greasing with white spirit. I've repaired a couple cracks in the fairing, touched some paint up with paint sticks I had in the garage. One of the fairing infill panels is beyond repair, but I've found a replacement for £20. I then cut the paint back and polished it. The Micron can I attacked with wire wool. It's not a show winner but looks pretty respectable.
Mechanically it needs nothing, both tyres are brand new Bridgestones, and it had a huge service including chain and sprockets before being laid up. (The bill was more than I paid for the bike!) This is just a simple clean up cosmetic job, I'm not spending any unnecessary money. With the MOT I should be on the road for not a lot of money, I can then lay the Blade up over winter and use this.

First proper (longer) ride out on my new bike. It's been about 4 weeks since I passed my test. Great day for it.
Very nice, 821 dark? How are you finding it as a beginner? I'm in the same boat as you (newbie) and was in the Ducati dealership at the weekend sitting on the 821 but I actually prefer the look of the air cooled 797. Mac. said:

Yep 821 Dark.I actually went in to the Ducati Dealership originally, with the intention of buying a Scrambler Full Throttle.
I loved how it looked, but it seems like a pretty simple bike for the money. Felt like I was paying for all the marketing hype.
I started looking at the other models, and looking at what that money would get etc. And obviously saw the 797 and 821.
I just felt that £7000 was better VFM on a less than year old 821, instead of a Scrambler/797 which share the same engine. I didn't want to get bored of the power, or regret not making a slightly bigger step as I like to keep bikes/cars for a while.
I have no regrets. I still prefer the 'style' of the Scrambler, but the 821 Dark (the only one for me) looks mean as hell, and I've plenty of great comments on how it looks. Its mean and aggressive in a 'street' way.
It's safe to say, the power is bananas for a newbie. (75hp vs 112hp I believe).
Plus the residuals on the 821 seem strong.
8 months after doing my DAS as a bit of a challenge to myself, I've finally bought a bike.
1987 VFR400 (NC24). I absolutely love it. Cheap and fun way of getting experience under my belt and a great sound from the V4 too.
Happy to join the fold. I had a great proper first ride out with my friend to Goodwood Breakfast club yesterday.
