Had a shot of this today.
Pros
Looks good
Sounds nice
Handles nice, easy to turn in and nice to ride.
Cons
It's unbearable to ride for more than ten miles, so camped and I'm not big in the peg department
My balls constantly bumping the seat, couldn't grip the tank
Horrible after ten miles I wanted to walk back.
Engine - nothing low down, then bang kicks in, front goes light and you think you dancer tthen bang limiter. Wtf your left thinking. Only revs to 11,500 rpm.
You have to be in the right gear all the time. fking horrible. I was not impressed. I'll stick with 675s thank you very much.
I know it's a v twin but it was like driving a diesel. Nothing low down, a bit of a oh then change gear just as it's getting fun. It's 30 bhp more than my daytona and 40 or 50 more than my street but it just never felt quicker. Huge disappointment
Piece of st was my words at the time.
Genuinely surprised as I thought it would feel much like the RSV (and in fact, the 848 I tried did) in the sense that the delivery is fairly flat but massively torquey. Coming from an I4 before, where there was nothing at the bottom and then a fking explosion just when you were about to change gear, the twin feels way more grunty down low, but steady through the revs. It maybe feels less quick but actually is quicker (for my riding).

I'm surprised you didn't like it mtb. I've heard nothing but great things about the 899. Even more praise than the 1199.
Are the 675s really that good? Again I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing about one other than Matt from small boys cursing his rental ones.
I'm off to le mans during the week with a buddy who's got one and I'm looking forward to stealing it for a good few miles

Come to Qatar they said, the weather is lovely they said! Err May and rain in the Middle East, global warming has some explaining to do LoL. Race 2 finished at 00:30 this morning. A quick flight back to Dubai and in work at 7am. not going to be the most productive of days.
Do they even have wets there?d8mok said:
899 's have no low down grunt even compared to a 848 or 675. The comfort seat sorts out the issue of sliding about though.
They're not endowed with a massive bottom end, but the one I rode had a lot more top-end speed than my old 675. It's best to rev the nuts off it and keep banging up using the quickshifter – it was genuinely quick. The 1199 was another kettle of mad badgers, but the 899 I rode gave me the confidence to pin it in 1st, 2nd and onwards, whereas the 1199 just scared me a bit. But I am a big girl's blouse. Being as it was a bit grey today, and my bike got treated to new rubber for its MOT last month, I finally got around to flushing the old brake fluid and bleeding the brakes.
Old fluid was lovely and dark:
New fluid coming out:
And finally a quick wash to clear some road grime:
Next on the service item, is to sync my carbs, but need to get a flexible screwdriver to get at one of the balancing screws in situ, but no rush.

I suspect you might have slightly better brakes now Old fluid was lovely and dark:

I went to see my Sis in Ilkley down in that thur Yorkshire.
Newcastle to Haydon Bridge then on to Alston. Excellent fun.
Here we are on the road to Barnard Castle:
Ninety something miles to get to Scotch Corner. A1 closed southbound so up we go to Middlesborough. I hate going the wrong way so this bit was pretty rapid on empty dual carriageway. A19 for years and years then some cracking B-roads over the dales I think they call them. This was a 4-hour marathon (usually takes an hour and a half in the car). Got there, got changed and then straight out on the beer with my brother-in-law. Left my specs in some dodgy dive. Home tonight via the A68. The only fly in the ointment is that the battery appears not to be charging while I ride. Feels like I've been here before...
