I’ve got them on my current trackbike and opinionnis split. They’ve certainly saved me a lot of grief cover the year, but I know there’s a chance they’ll dig in and cause the bike to flip.

There is in one other point though. they’re wings and help keep the bike planted hehe

Took the new GSXR1000 out for a couple of hours this afternoon, what a fantastic bike and the power was very addictive....when I left on my FireStorm, I seriously thought something was up with it for a few miles, felt like it had a 21" front wheel , a flat front tyre, and the vibrations where really noticeable!...Despite all that, it left me totally unmoved & uninspired to buy one, just confirmed to me im officially an old b'std & done with the sportsbike thing but id love to repeat the experience on a track..

I'll say it time and time again go naked...

Well not quite literally but a nice big sit up type bike. Add a quirky engine and you'll have your modern firestorm right there

I agree 100% mate, ...The only thing that stopped me getting a naked when I sold the GSXR last year was my limited budget, next time around ill make it happen..

I have a brand new never fitted fibreglass seat unit for your bike.

I also have the fairing, tank cover and screen that was fitted too the Fireblade

Brand new never used translogic quick shifter in race pattern too and a standard clock bracket
Funds are a bit low just now, was planning on getting all the bodywork in Feb / March just before it's needed... pop me an email though, maybe you'll still have something when the time comes. Cheers mate

Got some new tyres fitted to my bike yesterday, went for Bridgestone S20Es to replace Michelin PR4s that had worn quite strangely on the front and had become quite square on the back. What a difference it's made, I'm not exactly a sporty rider but I felt really confident pushing on. They seem plenty good enough in the wet for me too.
Today, to 'test' them, I went down in to Yorkshire and ended up in Ingleton, rode some fantastic roads, definitely an area to visit again. Think it was about 450 miles by the time I got home. My arse certainly feels it!

Take my money now
MCN said that Triumph made the point basically that the 600 market has collapsed. However this is now over 750cc but then again I guess the GSXR750 isn't a big seller either.

I guess Triumph know their market well enough and they have profitable bases covered and they can walk away from the sportsbike market again (eg 955i Daytona).

Or could they bung a fairing on a Street Triple, use some hot cams/ecu and have an 'easy' option, especially with the Moto2 connection? Will a Daytona developed from a Street Triple be as marketable as a naked developed from a sports bike?

Then again, are Triumph watching Spirit(?) to see if there's a market for a high value Moto2 engine road bike - mini UK built RCV anyone??

They owned the 600 market when they brought out the 675. If it's as good I want one.

If all yous bds hadn't went and bought a litre bike because your too lazy to change gears and its easier to knock a second or two off a lap we'd still have a 600 market.

Plus the gs and africa twin wkers.

It's actually probably because the biking population is now older and there's very few kids coming through riding bikes and wanting sports bikes I'd suggest but still.
I don't get a lot of that at all but then again I don't like modern sports bikes but can accept that people do - I found the modern 600's to be too frenetic to ride quickly and they aren't much fun to ride when you aren't keeping it on the boil. Modern litre sports bikes are just bonkers and I'm well aware that my riding ability would not reach the std required to have fun on and keep a licence - I don't want either a GS or Africa Twin either but I can appreciate that the are popular for lots of reasons and none of the owners of them I can describe as wkers.

You were knocking on a bit earlier today when I spotted you on A508. The little X7 or whatever it was looked like it was struggling to keep up.

Oh and yours was smoking a fair old blue haze.

Sorry it broke but it looked lovely.

Well spotted again...!

yep, i pushed it to near 130 (kph officer) at one point to see if all was as it should have been..found my answer as soon as I backed off!

That said, im ever optimistic it should be a straightforward fix and shouldnt happen again...if it does, every part will be on eBay by Christmas..

Thanks for the commiserations gents.

Went to a Raleigh meet earlier this morning, real nostalgia trip, 80s bikes, parts and computer games being peddled by the sellers, anyone remember the Milk race bikes?!

Managed to pick up a couple of NOS bits for the Chopper as well.

Raleigh Vektar, like a Burner in fancy dress, complete with digital speedo and radio...never seen one of these before.

Back on topic, RPM bikes in Northampton had a dyno day today so I stuck the storm on, it made 107RWHP and 69ft lb of torque at 5,300RPM, seeing as I havent done a thing to it bar a set of second hand cheapo end cans and Honda only state 110BHP, I was very pleased with that.

Loaded up ready for tomorrow, the pic is of my new toy, a petrol pressure washer and 100ltr water butt. Had enough of jet washing all the mud onto my drive when I get home so this should make life easer, its only a little one ( clark 1800) but seems to work well from my garden testing smile

It means loading even more st into the van but hopefully its worth it, I am more exited about using this than watching the lad ride

New bike day, Aprilia Tuono V4 APRC...tiny fuel capacity, tiny water capacity (so hot in traffic), hard shiny seat, crappy side stand, but a mad little thing and no regrets chipping in the Honda. smile The loudest and best sounding stock exhaust I've heard!

Most of the lads round here use morrisons petrol station to wash their bikes.
