Yeah the KTM EXC250 motor. Flywheel weighs a fking tonne! Will be buying an SX one!
Can't you just get it lightened?
There's not really anywhere to take it from and the sx ones are cheap enough second hand not worth the messing about.

Serious answer John.

I just had a quick skim read of the advert and I couldn't see any mention of it's TT history. Ignoring that you've said it's a Triggers broom - it's an ex-TT bike, and assuming that it sells for under a grand - that's a cheap slice of history. Any proper old bike with any kind of racing pedigree now (especially IoM) is an access all areas pass to events, and a great talking point!

To anyone else, it's 'just' an old 600 that's a bit battered. Regardless of the TT thing, it's your old bike so you will regret not buying it if you don't. It won't drop any money (assuming you don't get into a bidding war with another previous owner!) so even if you stand it in the back of the garage for five years, it'll not owe you anything. And as you're getting more into the older (well less modern!) stuff it'd be ideal! And just think of it sitting there, with your favourite "oh dogst" poster hanging above it...!

Can you see why we have a garage full of bikes now, I'm good at justifying bikes hehe

I've been sent this link from e bay, it's my old FZR 600 looking pretty much how it was when I sold it in 1997.

This bike has a lot of History as it was raced by Dave Leech at the TT when it was new. It then spent a few years being raced in club events before I registered it for the road in 1994.

I dropped a valve which wrecked the head so I had to fit new pistons and a complete head. (it had a gas flowed head and a Wiseco big bore kit fitted with Carrillo rods)

A year later I put a rod through the cases which meant a trip down South to buy an engine which had come out of an crashed American 600. I paid £750 for the motor, they were hard to get as all the sidecar racers used them.

I prepped all the bodywork before Bike-paints painted it in Yamaha WSB colours, I also took the full race Cobra off and replaced the Dyno Jetted carbs with a standard set before part exchanging it for a Black YZF 750 that I crashed twice in 4 weeks.

Should I buy it back for old times sake?

An old 3HE FZR600 with powder coated black frame - lovely. If I ever spotted my old one I'd buy it immediately. If you get it working correctly (good therapy?) it will be a hoot to thrash about - some people on here think anything built before turn of the century is bit Fred Dibner but probably more fun than stuff that does 100 in first.

Not a great day. Just another SMIDSY. I'm fine (if a little bruised), but the bike's not looking so good:

As previously said by others, sorry to see that, as long as your OK..be up and riding again for the Spring..

BN, love the old FZR pics, id stick to that £500 budget and have it , if you can...if cant go for much more than that anyway..

What I love about the IOM TT. Stood at the side of the road near glen vine with 6 cans of cider, having a laugh with a complete stranger while he tries to tune in his humongous radio while superbikes bomb past at 180mph +
