Guy I used to go to school with runs a bike shop, his own little indie place, and what he used to do was watch ads like Gumtree and if a bike was still there after a couple of weeks he'd wade in with a stupidly low offer. Made no odds to him whether they said yes or no, just a numbers game but he did snag some surprisingly good bargains that way.
essentially what ive done recently.

Quite a few times ive put offers in £300 less than asking, explaining my budget and this is my offer please dont take offense. Get rejected then a few weeks later I get a text agreeing to that price. Just be polite and remember you will be selling something if not this purchase sometime soon.

The market really has dried up though, (scotland anyway), I stuck my ninja on just to see if I could make a few hundred from it so I could increase my budget and get something a bit more special.

No interest, nothing in two weeks. It needs nothing done to it and is in mint condition and one of the lowest priced in Scotland. Once you go over the £1,000 mark on gumtree anyway, the bikes tend to re-appear for weeks on end. A lot of honest sellers who ive went to see (sometimes the bike looks great in the ad but is rough as fk) say they have just had no interest. You of course get the lying aholes who say they have had lots of interest and there is someone coming to see it after you, "Really, its been up for a month".

That seems to be my experience with certain valued bikes. But hey it cures the boredom at work buying and selling.

Dvla has a back log just now, you can sell it on by giving them the new owners slip.

once you get the v5 in your name you then fill it in with your buyers details
Fair enough, not a problem now as the V5 just turned up so I'll stick it up on eBay now!
Gumtree, trust me

Had it on gumtree but no contact from anyone. Might just reduce the price and see what happens.
is it not nearly £100 to advertise on ebay

No its like £30. Thing is I don't want to keep it I just want it gone. For the sake of £30 I'm happy enough.
I looked at it and they took at percentage of your fee for selling. up to £75-100

maybe bikes are different

well looks like a no go for the gsxr.

he accepted my price, I asked him to deliver it to me. As I mentioned, the tyres arent legal, im not sure it would make it to mines and I suspect he hasn't bothered his arse fixing the peg. Last time I wasted 4 hours and a 120 mile round trip because he described it as perfect, it was far from perfect so im not wasting my time again.

He said he couldnt deliver it due it having no tax, I offered to reimburse him if he put 6 months tax on and he hasnt bothered replying. Ah well. The other half will be pleased.

Thanks for the like but I got a zx6r for the track for under a grand (- my sales from other bikes I bought for under a grand).

I was still waiting on getting the gsxr from the wheelie king.

he accepted £600 +40 tax and fuel costs to bring it to me, then never got back to me.

told me to come get it, when I said he did he told me it was sold.

so I emailed him (I had only texted him before) and the bikes still for sale but at £800, wtf.

its not worth £800 as it needs £500 spent on it. so fk him
