My car has a roof, air conditioning, a heater a radio, somewhere to put my shopping, seating for up to 4 friends, 10,000 mile service interval and doesn't fall over. My bike has none of those features.
Worst "I've got 4 friends" post ever.If one was to draw up a list of pro's and cons for riding a bike, it'd probably have more cons (get cold, get wet, get very hot, need to kit up, need to kit down, maintainence is more regular, tyres are expensive and dont last very long, you can fall off so on so forth
But if one starts adding a score to the pros and cons and then tots them up, one finds that the weight of the pros is far greater than the cons
filter through traffic and halve journey times in cities
quite astonishing performance from even a humble commuter compared to a car
occupy less space on the road, so more room to avoid an accident
fuel economy on even a high performance motorcycle is really quite impressive
A unique sensation
something wonderful to share with a pillion, its a solo experieince shared in a way
Bikes are crap. Bikes are great.

Agree with the OP's point that other drivers seem to get far more worked up about cars overtaking than they do bikes, but then again maybe we're just gone so fast on the bike we never notice them getting irate

Can't do wheelies in a car!
I've done better wheelies in far heavier machinery than a car than I've ever managed on a bike, although reverse wheelies are a bit scary when the front axle is a pivoted beam rather than conventional suspension (tractor) Edited by RizzoTheRat on Monday 1st September 15:38
