Get an Optimate.£40 well spent.
So do you have a fix a lead that hangs out the side of your bike to plug into? How does it work? Cheers.catso said:

So do you have a fix a lead that hangs out the side of your bike to plug into? How does it work? Cheers.1. Switch the charger unit off before you plug in or unplug as it can spike some alarms with a sudden volt surge
2. Leave the charger switched off when it's not connected. Just like a phone charger it is a transformer so still uses electricity and also heats up and can be considered a fire risk.

Only 2 words of warning here;
1. Switch the charger unit off before you plug in or unplug as it can spike some alarms with a sudden volt surge
2. Leave the charger switched off when it's not connected. Just like a phone charger it is a transformer so still uses electricity and also heats up and can be considered a fire risk.
Do both of those, been using the optimate for about 8 or 9 years with no problems, battery is always good, bike starts first time and because battery is good it keeps the electrical system running well (older Ducatis suffer from electrical problems which are made worse if running on low battery).1. Switch the charger unit off before you plug in or unplug as it can spike some alarms with a sudden volt surge
2. Leave the charger switched off when it's not connected. Just like a phone charger it is a transformer so still uses electricity and also heats up and can be considered a fire risk.
