Bikes really are unsafe

considering I started riding when EVERY bike had an inherent fault , i'd say no..
I am the inherent fault, and much more likely (statistically and otherwise) to cause the problem, and by comparison, an engineering fault is about a million times less likely to occur than my cause an accident.I say when your times up your times up. Statistics play no part in how I ride or what I ride

Having read the ongoing threads about the two top end sportsbikes (S1000RR and Panigale), one of which has a recall for a pretty major failure and the other having a high speed weave, like the Pan European a few years back. It's becoming clear that bikes are inherently unsafe.
No matter how I ride or how much care I take, there will always be an underlying manufacturung defect within them. There's been some bad press for all the major makes from fork failures, to frames snapping and so on.
Given that I'm the breadwinner, is it fair for me to jack it in and sell the bikes, as I'm worried I could end up as a statistic in someone else's law suit?

Your attitude to risk is seriously skewed. I've been riding for ten years and spannering my own bikes for the same time. I've owned 25 bikes and can honestly say I've never had an accident which resulted from any kind of manufacturing fault. If you believe a manufacturing fault is likely to be the culprit in your motorcycle accident you need to get your head examined.
I have however had a few accidents. two were my fault (lost the rear end, lost the front end), one was a pedestrian's fault, and one was because I hit a boot in the road. Also bear in mind I've ridden two Buells, an MZ, a GasGas and various other old bikes that were probably put together by a man with an adjustable spanner in a shed in the UK after being rebuilt.
By that logic, you should give up biking because you're likely to hit a boot in the road.
Wake up and realise that biking IS dangerous, but it is dangerous because of the risks the rider takes, and the idiots that inhabit the roads these days, not because of mechanical fault.

Did the TL1000s not have some really bad problem when it was originally launched?
Something to do with the yokes leading on to high speed tank slappers? I did a search but didn't see anything. Don't know why that's stuck in my head...
Nothing to do with the yokes. A short wheelbase, phenomenally grunty engine, light weight and a steep head angle all conspired to bite people on the arse. The never-seen-since rotary rear shock was often hinted at (by the likes of Maxton, etc) as being a contributory factor, but at the end of the day it was just a bike that demanded respect.Something to do with the yokes leading on to high speed tank slappers? Of course, the utter s at MCN jumped up and down on it, hyping it up beyond all belief. "Killer bike" this, "Widow maker" that...editing readers letters from "My ZZR1100 had a mild tank slapper..." to "My TL1000S tried to kill me...".
Suzuki shat themselves and issued a recall to fit a steering damper. The TL1000R was rushed out, the TL1000S killed off. A shame
