New bike bought! Classic but quick enough!

A BSA Gold Star, 1957, just my dad as the only owner from new. Standard, with 2 light restorations done. 98% original.
It had the correct RRT2 gearbox and Amal GP carb, etc.
Blimey, that's incredible money for a Gold Star! Verralls (notoriously 'keen' prices!) have a Rocket Goldstar (generally more expensive than the singles as they made fewer) for £21k. It had the correct RRT2 gearbox and Amal GP carb, etc.
Well done though, shows how desirable originality is
I have now done around 600 miles on the RC30. What a noise and what a bike! It got a crowd round it today in Buxton very soon after parking up and questions were fired at me at high speed! Including, ''would you sell it?''
Anyway, no it's not the quickest thing I have ridden, but once under way it's quick enough and I just love the raunchy V4 sound it has, even approaching redline it seems so nonchalant. Great bike.

Give the panels a good buff & Powder Coat the wheels (I'd be tempted to go gold) & it'll look mint.
It really won't. Gold?? On that? It's a stunning bike, they always draw a crowd. Glad you're using yours - I guess one of the issues is that riding an expensive piece of history is a concern for many in case of the damage that can easily happen, but it's sad seeing classic bikes and cars locked up and not used.

I'd love to try an RC30 to see how much better it is than my RC24. In my head it's the same and yet better everywhere. Better looks, better brakes, better suspension, less weight and yet (very nearly) the same lovely V4 engine. Still, not quite sure it's ~17k better than the RC24 though except obviously as an investment! I think they look superb and they're pretty cheap.
Get me as many as you can if they're going cheap.Great bike OP.
Lovely bike OP and, as others have said, great that you're using it.
I know a guy who has one and keeps it in the house. I don't think it's turned a wheel in anger since he bought it a few years back. Such a shame.
Great purchase, lovely bike and nice and original.
80's and 90's Sportsbikes are big news at the moment you only need to look in magazines like Practical Sportsbikes and Classic Motorcycle Mechanics.
I'm currently in the middle of an Urban Tiger Fireblade project, turning an old track day hack back into a good original road bike.

Fast aplenty with brakes this rubbish that the only way to stop sometimes on mine was to lift the engine off the wheel We had 3 with 2 friends of mine 20 years ago (ouch) but the fun had is still immensely vivid. Summer day, country roads, no helmets. Bliss.
