fjr 1300 or gtr1400
Discussion
Good choice but then i am biased.
How old is the one you've bought?
Regardless of age it is defo worth getting the rear suspension linkage checked out by somewhere reputable. Also if it has ABS then watch out for the sensor getting gummed up and jamming and then mushed. Although it doesn't cause a problem your ABS light will stick on and it will be an MOT failure.
Pop over to FJR Owners forum (something like fjfjrclub.co.uk) for lots of decent information.
Otherwise enjoy.

GTR - detuned ZZR1400 lump. Quite impressed with lookatmypussy's one when he brought it to a PH rideout.
Cheers fella!I test rode both and the GTR came out on top all the way. It even has factory pre-wiring for a sat nav etc on two parts of the bike - one under the seat for intercoms and one under the front fairing near the yolks for sat nav.
GTR is significantly quicker and handles surprisingly well. ABS is standard (and may well be on the FJR).
Both have electric screens - but the GTR appears to have a better selection of after market goodies...
To be fair, it's pretty subjective. The FJR is still an excellent piece of kit and I'm biased as I have the GTR!
Test ride both - either bike will do you well.
.....except the FJR has a puny engine displacement compared to....... hehe!!
Feel free to ask for any further info on the GTR - you're welcome to have a spin on it if you're local to West London. Oh - they are WIDE - 1 metre to be exact, but I filter perfectly well on the motorway. London traffic and around any town will be a nightmare, but the whole point of these big tourers are big open roads. I absolutely love mine and have spent far too much getting it how I like it with accessories etc...

If you prefer upright touring another option is the K1300s with AC Schnitzer bars and a higher screen.
Jesus, were you moving house? I thought blokes were supposed to travel light, two pairs of shreddies and a toothbrush... even our lass doesn't need THAT many bags to go away!Wedg1e said:

That just leaves the top bag which holds the brewing gear and water.

Oooooh, I didn't realise they were out. Do tell, how was it?
Not out until the 1st Novemeber. Did the dealer launch a couple of weeks ago. Awsomme bike. It's a big old bus but very nimble, especially with the electronic suspension set in sport mode I allways had the 10my GTR1400 down as the best tourer you can buy. A real scream to ride, but the Trophy makes it look lame. Just my opinion. Given the bikes the op is looking at, I dont think he will get a wrong 'un.
