Do people get their new bikes delivered or not?
Discussion
Got till this Sunday before collecting my new GSX-R600 K7 ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
As the weather has been a little s
t recently, I have the option of getting it delivered but provided it's not gonna rain cats and dogs, I am keen to ride it home from Fife back to Edinburgh to get the tires properly scrubbed in.
So I was wondering for those who have had their bikes delivered to their home, I take it I shouldn't be concerned about possible damage during transportation as it's always a bit of a worry incase it moves in the van or fairing damage? I'd expect their vans to will have the right equipment to hold the bike in place in transit?

When I bought my blade new in 2001 I got it delivered. They offered to do it for nothing and it meant that they could pick up the two bikes I was trading in against it. The wife took delivery and I got home to find a brand new shiney fireblade parked in the middle of the garage... terrific ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Given that you have the possibility of a fair bit of snow on sunday, I think I'd probably get it delivered..................![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Chilli, it's the blue and white colour scheme - fastest colours known to dog and man ![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)
A mate of mine is going to give me a lift over with my gear at hand, if snow or heavy rain is piling down I'll try and get them to deliver FOC.
Hmmmm, not sure about the fastest claim....But a bloody lovely bike. I bet you're well excited! And I think I agree with you re the 07 vs 08 model. Will post agin tomorrow on this, just to make sure you're sleeping ok! (and that you don't want me to pick it up for ya ![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)

I picked mine up as I did not want my first ride to be in front of the family and get them too worried as I wobbled down the road. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Not that I was any better when I arrived back form my first run..
except I was grinning from ear to ear ![cloud9](/inc/images/cloud9.gif)
I agree that the K7 is better looking than the K8, I know, I am biased as I have one but it is true![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
I think there is a fair chance that the weather will be pants over the weekend so it depends on how you feel about challenging yourself!![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Fingers crossed for some decent weather on Sunday.
Delivery if possible.
Nothing worse than pulling away from the dealers with your brand new bike and;
stalling it,
not being able to start it again cos it's in gear and the clutch is out,
spending two minutes working out the above while turning the igniton on and off and flicking the kill switch backwards and forwards,
revving it far too much next time so you don't stall it again,
running onto the wrong side of the road 'cos you revved it too much and didn't expect the clutch to bite,
clipping the wing of a parked car,
dropping your brand new bike of two minutes and twisting your ankle so bad everyone thinks it's broken and someone calls an ambulance,
with everyone in the dealers window watching you...
Wasn't me, but I was behind the glass...
laughing...
uncontrolably...
for ages...
and ages...
Do it at home and only the dog sees you (Yeah I know you want to see me ride off on it honey, but I just want to stand and look at it just now. Why don't you go back inside and put the kettle on...) and then you can tell the parts guy that someone knocked it off the stand while it was parked and the bad ankle's from footy.

Its a no-brainer.
Get it delivered.
If they damage it in the van, its their problem not your's.
Inspect the whole thing end to end before signing for it (everything from the way the fairing pannels line up to the tyre fitting lines, headlamp alignment etc etc) and make sure you're happy.
Then you can take it out on roads you know best for your first ride - you know the camber of the road outside your door, you know where the manhole covers are etc. Best place to get to know your new bike.

Ever get the feeling that some people should only be allowed to walk....? I guess the guy thought it was as easy as falling off a bike?not being able to start it again cos it's in gear and the clutch is out,
