I've going to get my 748 ready for sale pretty soon. Is it worth putting it up now or am I going to get a better price waiting for May/June? My concern about putting it up now and there's no interest is that people will think there's something wrong with it. It should sell ok as it's had the belts and the rockers done a year ago and only a few hundred miles have passed since then. I haven't had it long so want to try and get back as much of the money I spent on it as I can... I simply didn't like it that much.

Cheers,

Mark

Might want to work on that sales pitch Mark

hehe

I think we are suficiently out of winter for now to start being a decent time to sell, though a little sunshine wouldn't go amiss!

Are there many 748's about? The longer you wait, I'm guessing the more might come on the market as summer approaches.

Now is the time to put it on the market.

A lot of people just buy a bike for the summer. If you wait until later they will probably have bought something else.

I agree with the sales pitch comment above! biggrin

Unless you know that we are going to get a really nice long hot dry spell this summer then I would think now is as good a time as any. Assuming the weather will do the usual of being "alright but nothing special" this summer then leaving it later may bring a few more buyers to the market but it'll also likely bring a few more sellers too.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a polish this weekend then.

It's a genuinely awesome bike that would suit literally anybody (unless you're a lazy bd like me who just wants to open the taps at any revs)... better? wink

Dern, regardless of the miles its covered, anyone that knows dukes will know it needs another service, minimum would be a belt change as if left standing they can develop tightspots, these things need rding fella, lot of 748's out there at the minute and no doubt more to com as people let their luxuries go.

Get it on the market now.

When I was selling my TL, I had agreed a deal with someone and he had left a cash deposit and a cheque to clear.
Cheque went into my account Monday morning, I was dropping the bike off at his the following Saturday once it had cleared...
On the Thursday morning, I got taken off by a bakers van coming towards me turning right across my path (the classic "Sorry mate I didn't see you!" ).
Clutch lever, bar end, left fairing, left indicator, footpeg, gear lever and left can all smashed or scraped.

By 10am, I had been to my local Suzuki dealer who informed me they wouldn't get all the parts for at least three weeks, however they did have an identical bike on the showroom floor that I could buy the necessary parts from if I wanted.

My 10.30, I was in the offices of my insurance co (CIS) explaining what had happened to the guy at the counter.
"Hold on," he says, "I'll let someone else speak to you."

Next guy to come to the counter is very concerned; am I alright, how bad was the damage, did the van driver admit responsibility etc.
By sheer good fortune, he had been on the bus immediately behind me when it happened and saw the whole thing! Expert witness?

On his say so I was able to have the bike sorted completely by 2.30 that afternoon (paid on my credit card) and recieved a settlement cheque within two weeks!
How about that for service!

Dropped the bike off with it's new owner on Saturday morning and never said a thing (would you?).
Never seen the bike again.

CIS also paid for a solicitor to reclaim my un-insured losses (helmet and gloves) and I got £1000 personal injury for my sore shoulder (which I have to confess really wasn't all that bad, but they were throwing free money at me wink ).

Yes, I would have. I would expect to be told if the owner had binned the bike I paid a dep on and therefore would say that I'd binned it, show him what I'd done and if he wanted let him pull out of the sale.

Yeah, right...

'Cos you know the full history of every second hand bike and car you ever bought or sold...

Believe what you like mate... I prefer to be completely honest about this sort of thing even if it costs me a few quid.
