I just received an email from Long Way Down which you guys might be interested in... Unfortunately I don't have a Bike, so doubt I'll be of much use in the Viper, but it sounds like it's an open invite to anyone with a Motorbike. Just thought I'd let you all know...

Read Below:

With Charley gearing up for his new adventure, he has sent out an open invite to anyone with a motorbike to ride with him on a short leg of his new trip. Charley's new adventure, By Any Means, will take him from Wicklow in Ireland all the way down to Sydney, Australia. Unlike Long Way Down and Long Way Round, this time he will be using a huge mix of transport to get himself across three continents, pitting himself and the machines against a variety of tough and beautiful environments. We couldn't persuade him to leave out his bikes entirely so he'll be cruising through England on a custom made British motorbike.

At 8.30am on Tuesday 15th of April, Charley will be joined by an open convoy of motorcyclists, at junction 10 on the M40, and lead them to the Ace Café in London. Once there Charley will be ditching 2 wheels and boarding a Routemaster bus to get his four month expedition underway - so why not be there to wave him off? If you have a bike and are interested in joining this incredible biking experience, just be at the south-bound junction 10 of the M40 at 8.30am, on the 15th.

See you there!

Should be interesting to see Charley on his own this time.. I expect Ewan is too costly to take 4 months out !!

Shame they aren't doing another Long Way xxxxxxx series. I really enjoyed the last two, especially the first one.
It's always the problem with things like this..they get a bigger budget and it spoils it completely.

Shame the convoy is happening next week though...we're off on holiday on Monday - usually I'd be on the M40 at that time for my daily commute - and I could have joined in frown

The description of the trip says "By Any Means will take Boorman to Sydney, Australia using transport “appropriate to each country” on the way" and he's going from Ireland to the Isle of Man first.

It's a pity he's only going to meet up with bikers from the South as he could have then come through Liverpool as it's the 'European Capital of Culture' where he could have taken a 'Ferry Across the Mersey' and I'm sure a lot of bikers from the North would have liked to have given him a send-off by riding part of the way with him.

I'd prefer to see Ewan doing something like this himself, to be honest. Rather look after Charlie's wife, though...

Yeah, he's not moving exclusively on bikes but using different transport at different times.

I know there will be one leg worth watching for people interested in unusual bikes as I know someone who has helped organise it. Should be a good programme and much more like a round the world trip. Often there are times on the trip when bikes are on trains or chucked in the back of pick ups, mine certainly was!! So it will give a good flavour of the RTW experience!
