Can anyone offer any first hand views on how comfortable a RR2/RR3 'Blade is for general day-to-day riding.

I've just had an RR8 on loan for 2.5 days whilst the VFR was in for a service (lucky me!) and found it to be perfectly comfortable for my 100mile/day commute. Harder work on the motorway but much easier round town than the VFR...purely down to weight I guess.

So I'm now wondering about a RR2/RR3 because i) they're lighter still, ii) they're half the price and iii) I like the way they look biggrin

It's either that or an RR8 in black.

i have to be carefull as to what i say as there are a few "now it alls on here", but-

with personal exp of the blade (929 w plate) and racked up a fair few miles on 20+ rr8's, i can say the 929/954 models are mega bikes but the rr8 is the nuts, if you have the cash, buy the rr8 and enjoy.

I've done 20k miles on my 954 (RR2) half of which was commuting through relatively slow traffic. Comfort is OK but remember it is/was a sports bike, so it's never going to be that comfortable over a long trip IMO. I'm presuming you do 50 miles each way which would be fine on it...100 miles each way might be a different matter.
Also I'd add that with a new shiny steed most 'comfort' issues are often overlooked understandably due to the excitement of new ownership...it's only after a few months (& some time sitting in grid-locked traffic) that the niggles appear IMO...which may be why the RR8 seems better than the VFR? ;-)
You'll get roughly 120 miles per tank before the fuel light comes on, possibly less if you're in heavy traffic a lot of the time so it's a re-fuel every other day. I've no idea how the RR8 fares tank-range wise, but probably not much different.
If you're just looking for an excuse to spend the money & get the RR8 - do it biggrin
If you want a bloody good road bike that's still pretty capable in the right hands (not mine I hasten to add!) and you like the looks - get the 954...or at least see if you can get a test ride on one smile

Any excuse to post a piccy (it has had a few cosmetic changes since this was taken) biggrin

I bought an RR3 954 late last year, after 6 years of owning an EXUP, and the 'Blade is much more comfortable. I'm 6"4 and have just come back from a blast across Europe with absolutely no aches or pains. I thought my old EXUP was pretty comfy, but the 954 is loads better. Obviously, when you're in traffic, it is a bit hard on the wrists, but nothing too bad.
In keeping with the picture whoring, here she is, with an 2007 blade that came along...

ive owned a 954, and an RR6 and have test ridden an RR8 so my experience of the RR8 is pretty limited but comfort wise there is not a great deal in it, the RR6 i think is the most uncomfortable of the 3 with the 954 probably the most, performance wise the 954 isnt the fastest of them obviously but the noticeable difference with road riding is going to be very small and from what i remember of it(havent ridden a 954 for quite a while now) they are a very good handling bike, i wouldnt think twice about buying another one if i was in the market for a used 1000.
